Can you play smash run online?

is there any way to play smash run online? Also how do i get alternate costums been trying to find that out since i got game.

Alternative costumes should be unlocked from the start (I don't own the 3DS version so I'm not sure how to do it, I think when pressing A over the character on the bottom screen).
Smash Run I think is local multiplayer only.

I think they are for the Mii (Where there should be a shop).
You should get a better answer tomorrow once a Smash 3DS player is online :)

They are for the miis you have to play through smash run or classic mode to unlock the costumes for the miis though so yah
 
You can't play Smash Run online. The game already lags a lot when playing online, so imagine with Smash Run, where there's a lot of enemies... It would either consume your whole bandwidth, or kill the 3DS with the lowest number of FPS possible (0-10 FPS max. I suppose).
 
I actually didn't face too much lag online, but what they could have done was made the dungeon local to only your 3DS as they have done with wireless gameplay and make the battle after online. Smash run however is only a mildly amusing mode to begin with anyway so not too much lost here. If they made it so that we could at least have everyone in the same dungeon at once, at least in local play, then it would have been way more awesome.
 
everyone in the same dungeon would be awesome if they started at different points in the map.

You can't play Smash Run online, only locally. To get access to alternate costumes, you can press A when the little hand hovers over your character, or you can press L and R to get them as well.

Smash Run isn't online which is highly dissapointing quite honestly, since it would of definetly been really competitive and fun for online play but maybe we might get a future update to enable online play just gotta keep hopes high

Smash Run is local multiplayer only, not online, even though it would be cool if it was online. Also, the answer to your second question, to get alternate costumes, you do what @yorky97 said, and press L/R, or you can press X/Y as said by @Icemario .
