So around 1990,3 Years after the Film was released, there was a planned Hellraiser Game in Production by Color Dreams.
It was supposed to be on the NES,but it needed to get a more advanced cardridge to support the Graphics and the Game Engine. The Cardridge eventually was possible to be made, but considering Production Prices, purchasing ONE copy of the Game would have already costed 100$,which wouldnt have sold good considering Games were sold for low Prices compared to todays Games.(Around 20$ for a pretty normal no save cardridge.)They also considered that Religous Games being sold in Christian Stores would bring alot of Money,so they went to do that.(Hellraiser is not the right thing to base a game on for that Sale Concept)
There also were later Plans to release Hellraiser Games planned that sadly also never were finished.
The first was a Pc Game using the Wolfenstein 3D Engine also made by Color Dreams. There is not much known about it.
The Second was a a Playstation/Snes/NEC PC-9081 by Konami, but due to some weird Guidelines Konami had to cut down on Mature content that propably made the game uninteresting to Fans of the Franchise, which was what brought the end to the Konami game.
Later a Hellraiser PC Game was planned for Windows Xp by Magnet Interactive Studios and
Fox Interactive, but both were unhappy with the Results and cancelled the last planned Hellraiser Videogame.
Prototype of the NES Cardridge Box
Prototype of the NES Game Title Screen
A Advertisment Poster for Color Dreams featuring the never to be released Hellraiser NES Game
Enemy Sprites from the Pc Game using the Wolfenstein3d Engine
Death "Animation" Sprites of the Enemy
Concept Sprites of "The Box"
"Baby Demon"? Sprites
