You can buy candy for any occasion really, but the more exotic or plentiful it is, the more "gift-worthy" it is.
And as of this post's posting, candy as gifts will definitely be given out regularly. But buying twislers in bulk looks kinda cheep, (Except that one occasion, in which case it was literally the sweetest thing I did. ^~^) so some candies are better as gifts than others.
What do you guys like out there for gift-candy? Don't limit your imagination to snickers and reese's, there're worlds of things out there - truffles, petite fours, chocolate-covered coffee beans! Nuts, (if you're into that, and hopefully not allergic.) exotic pepper-infused candy, candy with french or italian names. Traditional baked or cooked goods...
