Chances of a new 3ds zelda?

Majoras mask is coming up, but that's only a remake and the only original game so far is a link between world's. Looking back, there has never been more than two exclusives zelda games for a single console. Wii u has the upcoming zelda and hyrule warriors(wind waker is a remake) the Wii only had one, skyward sword, since twilight princess was a remake. The ds had two originals with no remakes. Game cube had majoras and ocarina and so on..
There's usually a one year buffer between zelda games for a console (I guess wii u is an exception?) and the 3ds had one in 2011, one on 2013, and one in 2015
chances for a 2017 original zelda might be pretty slim considering nintendo might unveils a new console by then or just discontinue the 3ds and go with the new 3ds instead
I'm hoping that they manage to squeeze in a 3ds original zelda in 2017 before they transition over to the new 3ds, considering how big a hit albw was
What do you think about chances for a new completely original zelda game for 3ds?

I would love for that to happen! However, I don't think that they would release a new game right before Nintendo (possibly) releases a new console (seriously, like a Nintendo 4DS or something? That doesn't even make sense!) 'cause then sales would go down. People would probably rather wait for the new console and hope that a Zelda game comes along for that.

Especially since zelda U is going to be released, they would probably wait a couple of years after it's release to create an entirely new Zelda game, but it's a thought. Making a new game, even on the same engine as majora's mask, which is more like console releases instead of being overhead would be so awesome! If all went well, that would be my dream, but I doubt it will happen

I thought I heard somewhere that Eiji Aonuma already confirmed they're working on another 3DS Zelda title.

There's a very clear pattern in Zelda releases, by the way.

2011 - Ocarina of Time 3D, Skyward Sword

2013 - Wind Waker HD, A Link Between Worlds

2015 - Majora's Mask 3D, Zelda U

I'm not counting Hyrule Warriors because it's a spinoff, but there's clearly some sort of pattern there. I'm going to put my money on a 2017 Skyward Sword HD Port for Wii U and whatever new 3DS Zelda game they're working on.

I doubt it would be a skyward sword remake, I think a twilight princess remake would make more sense, skyward sword already came out at the end of the wii's cycle. Twilight princess was originally a GameCube game anyway. It probably won't happen until the next Nintendo console anyway

That's why I think it'll be Skyward Sword, it was so close to the release of the Wii U.

Plus I think Nintendo knows they mucked up with only having motion controls.

Thank you for saying that. I'm not a huge fan of Skyward Sword and almost no one I talk to ever has any problem with the controls. They honestly just take way too long and don't work quite as well as they should. Whenever I play that game, I always end up yelling at the screen when my movements aren't registering properly. It's a shame too, because most of the dungeons were actually really well designed, and besides the controls, it's a great game. I just can't ever see past the controls. I feel that changing away from motion controls will definitely require a lot of reworking. Redesigning dungeons, enemy AI, items, basically everything. It would be a nightmare, it would almost be easier to create an entirely new Zelda from the ground up.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo is working on a new Zelda for the 3DS as we speak.

I'm sure Nintendo is working on a new 3DS Zelda game right now, too. However, I'm not going to try to speculate on when it will be released. I just know that it will be, most likely within the next few years.

Ocarina and Majora are remakes.
A Link Between Worlds is based on A Link to the Past, and has a similar story... then I consider it a remake too.
I'm hoping for a REALLY original Zelda on the new 3DS :)

I just need to clarify some things from your post, first off Twilight princess was not a remake, it premiered on both the gamecube and wii at the same time, and both Ocarina and Majora were on the N64 not gamecube.

Sure I think that there is going to be a new 3d Zelda game but I don't think it will be a remake it will be more of a new made up Zelda game with new enemies and new adventures as well as weapons but it may take sometime to make up all and think about all that so you never know if they will do a remake of a Zelda game in the past or maybe a new one.If they were to do a remake though I bet they will do one of those Zelda games for Gameboy in which you had to battle the dark king king in order to break spell of which princess Zelda was under.

A link between worlds is already 2 years old, so for that reason there may be an all-new Zelda game perhaps at the end of the year or early 2016. I personally would like to see one released to cater for the Zelda fans. Make it happen Nintendo! ^.^

First off I have to correct you. Twilight princess for the wii was not a remake. It was released for both consoles at the same time. Therefore, the wii had 2 original games (3 if you Count links crossbow training). I would really like for Nintendo to make a completely New original zelda for the console. I would want it to be 2d, because if they shall develop zelda 3d games, I would want it for the wii u.

It has been nearly 2 years since Nintendo has released a new main Zelda game. Triforce Heroes sounds promising, but that is a spin off. Hopefully, the new Zelda would be at a bird's eye view, since that hasn't been as common anymore. The 3d style is great and all, but I feel like a new Zelda has to be in that perspective.
