AC:NL Decorating/Landscaping ideas?

Hello everyone! I'm looking for some ideas of how I should decorate/landscape my town! I've already started with a pattern of 1 tree stump, then 1 azalea bush, then 1 tree stump, then 1 azalea bush and so on. I think it looks pretty cool but I was wondering how everyone decorated their town? Or have you yet?

I heard that you can actually decorate and re arrange the lawn in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Although, it does seem common in Animal Crossing, even though you will have to wait a couple of days for the plants to grow and make sure that they don't die in the process.
