Before you question this, yes, this is indeed real.
I was on Facebook tonight, and found an article posted by ZeldaInformer... That the DK Bongos work with Smash Bros. U.

How can the DK Bongos work with it you ask? Well, the Gamecube Adapter of course!
"Ben Bertoli, creator of ClassRealm, a platform for teachers to introduce 'gamification' into the classroom, was one of the lucky people that received a Gamecube adapter alongside his review copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and decided to see if his Donkey Kong Bongos (an accessory released alongside the Gamecube game Donkey Konga) would work with the aforementioned game, and (if we can believe him) it worked! He posted a short video of said experiment on Vine and spread the story further on Twitter. He also stated that he would go looking for his Dance Dance Revolution mat, and try it out next. The Vine can be viewed above!
Alongside the aforementioned Vine, the creator also uploaded a video showing that the bongos can be used to perform Donkey Kong's final smash. This seems to be a very cute little detail the developers decided to add to the game. Just like the Vine, this video is viewable above!
