do you feel like the stage determines matches

I mean if it was final destination or battlefield then probably not. But earlier today I was playing on the Spirit Tracks map and I (being terrible with some chars recoveries) kept falling to the right of the stage and suiciding. My opponent just throws me off the stage and then the rest is my terrible recovery attempt. Do you think there are other stages that can determine matches or not?

Wow....
Every stage can determine a victory or a loss, even Battlefield and Final Destination. The best example comes with Little Mac. Hes a monster on Final Destination, since very little jumping has to be done so hes right at home on the ground, which gives him an excellent advantage. However, toss him into battlefield, and he'll have some problems jumping on and off the platforms. Yes, stages make a huge difference, they are absolutely important and they can easily determine if you will win or not.

I concur. Stages can be a weird as Balloon Fight, or as simple as Final Destination. If you've got a good air game, I wouldn't recommend Corneria. Lasers everywhere. It's just awful for my R.O.B. I have to be EXTREMELY careful.

Yes, and to a very large degree in DK Jungle Japes and Spirit Tracks and other stages that tend to be difficult for people who fall off the stage frequently, such as I. The other stages also affect the match depending on one's playing style - it's a lot easier to be Zero Suit Samus for me on flat stages that don't have places you can drop off the stage from.

Stages do affect the likelihood of a win or a loss. Like you said, you kept commiting suicides on the Spirit Train stage and your opponent kept smacking you to the back of the train. It depends on the weight of the character that they fall and be koed so it does determine it.

I think that stages do play a large role of their kind in your odds of winning a match . Lots of stages have their little thing about them that makes it particularly an advantage or disadvantage for some characters . So yeah , stages do definitely play quite a large role :p

Yeah I agree with you thread master! Also, I usually set all my stages to the omega form. I always love battling people in 1vs1 modein for smash glory! Still leveling up my shulk. LVL 42

Yes. Like a moving platform with barely any place you could fall Little Mac would definitely win. And for Link it wouldnt matter. So for some characters It wont matter. But Little mac is the most character that deserves to be number 1 on stages depend on wins

Yes. Not in theory but in any play with actual opponents the stage plays an important factor in matchups. Little Mac can take advantage of Smashville because platforms can give him safer approaches/recovery as well as hurt him because the other character gets more options as well to punish. Characters with command grabs like Robin and Wario can take advantage of stages with more platforms because they can grab in the air and have more options rather than being forced to grab while you're on the same platform but that doesn't mean you shouldn't grab on platforms when you have the chance as you can get easier kills on stages like Smashville. Sheik takes advantage of platforms for quicker combos and most characters can get combos from a force of the ledge/jab lock. Personally I think Final Destination is even ground for all characters and the only time when it's not a good stage is against projectile users as there is no physical barrier to block them.

it depends if oys on omega, was it on omega? If it wasn't then obviously different stages have different advantage. But if it was on omega I would think that it does have different advantage because some characters have wall jump, but place like final destination it makes it hard for son people (including me) to wall jump. And sometimes wall jumping can save your life, but stages like Tortimer Island, it makes it easier to get back on th ledge because that stage actually has walls to jump off of.

It really does depend on the stage. There is this one earthbound stage that I'm forgetting the name of, but it's so annoying because there is a support character that can be chosen be ONE player, and when it's chosen, it's a real menace, teaming up with its ally and just beating the living life out of EVERYONE. Then again, if there is a stage you're good at, then you should probably play it. Good luck!

Yes yes yes yes yes. Any stage with a slight movement to it will make me loose because I must focus on every single detail on anything. Skyloft I'm looking at you.

I belive it does depend oon the stage and the character and how well adapt you are to your characters recovery. for me Ness is a very hard recovery to get used to unlike link or the Kirby charicters. this is an odd way to depend a match but it is likely possible that it depends on three variable
stage +skill+ chaicter=outcome of match

Yes,it does.Certain stages can work as an advantage or disadvantage for certain characters to fight one.For example,Little Mac will have a fine time playing on stages like Boxing Ring and Final Destination, but others like Gaur Plain,Wooly World and 75m(practicaly,this stage is already unplayable outside of 8-player smash) just won't work for the character.Moving stages are the ones like Orbital Gate Assault and Mushroomy Kingdom(I consider this one to be unplayable as well) who make the biggest difference on that topic, and it will depend whether your character can fight and move on at the same time with the stage. However, because most tournaments like to stick around to simple stages like Battlefield,Final Destination,Town and City and Smashville, players won't bother too much on that aspect, but it will be worth remindering when some decide to play tournaments like this every once in a while.
