Do you nickname?

I used to nickname some of my Pokemon, but I honestly prefer their real names. They just define the Pokemon much more than what I can give them. My nicknames also sound too silly to me (Leafy for my Sceptile) so I just leave the names as they are.

It's surprising that almost no one here nicknames their Pokemon, I always thought nicknaming was more common. As for myself, I don't really ever nickname Pokemon. I like doing what NPC trainers do, and since they don't nickname their Pokemon, neither do I x3

I always nickname my Pokemon unless it's just a random Pokemon that I'm not going to use.

Also. I nickname my Pokemon after characters from TV series' or games that I've been playing at the time. Or just after real people.

I think something like this has been on here before... but since it was from forum-what's-it's-name I'll comment anyways. I love to nickname my Pokemon any little reference at all, plus it adds personality to your Pokemon (especially in competitive battling where some of the same Pokemon are all using the same set/Nature perhaps and if your opponent doesn't nickname then how are you going to know which Pokemon are yours?) Plus who doesn't want to sweep a team with a Dragonite named Cuddles or Mr. Happy?

When I first played Pokémon Silver, I always used to give my Pokémon names after me and my friends. So after some time my Pokémon were called names like Floor, Sabrina (it was pretty cool to fight Sabrina with a Pokémon named Sabrina :p), Sacha, Lisa and Cecile ^_^ Nowadays I don't give my Pokémon nicknames anymore, but my brother does though, and he tends to give them posh names, and his Typlosion was called Dorothy :rotfl:

I only nickname my Pokémon if I come up with good nicknames for them that I really like.

I used to nickname everything, but nowadays I only really nickname the ones I end up using.

In Pokemon Yellow I used to always name them things like 'ChuPika' and 'TwoMew' because it gave them different colours in Stadium.

I have never nicknamed any of my Pokemon except just to get the medal for nicknaming Pokemon in Black 2/White 2. I nicknamed Leavanny ynnavaeL and Graveler relevarg for instance.

I nickname occasionally, usually when I can come up with something clever...like naming my Butterfree "Lowfat" or my Ferrothorn "Free Hugs", that's about it though.

Same here. One thing is you can't even change it after you have. xD

I used to call Pikachu 'Sparky' but that was some time ago. xD

I nickname them every now and then but it depends on my mood and the pokémon. Some pokémon just have kind of nicknameable aura. I usually remix the letters of the original pokémon name or I try to find a nice Latin word and transform that into a name. (I called my shiny (golden) Luvdisk Halycon which means something like Golden.) I don't go for the cute nicknames. After all you battle your with your pokémon and "Fluffy Sweetypie" is a bit ashaming for your battle-partner... I never nickname legendaries.

I do not nickname my pokemon as I am too lazy to go the name rater everytime I want to change it. Also, people who want to trade usually do not want nicknamed pokemon so that is another drawback. Additionally, I tend to forget the real name of my pokemon if I nickname it. (I had an electivire called Bulb once, and I had a hard time trying to remember electivire)

I once tried to nickname my pokemon but I really dont like it.. I dpnt know though, in the end I just name the pokemon back according to its species, now even in gen 6 I does not nickname my pokemon..:D

I nickname them ^^ makes you more attached to your pokemon and i usually nickname them after close friends or family (don't worry not my mum or dad >.<) or i nickname them after how they look

I only nickname my starters, playing pokemon X ruined the whole name thing for me ..
-_- i got a pokemon named useless and was sad cause it was a furret ....

I always nickname my Pokémon. It makes me feel like the Pokémon is special. It's different from the rest. It's truly /my/ partner. But that's just me. I get really mad that I can't nickname event legendaries.

Like 2 years ago, when I was extremely obsessed with Japan, I used to name my Pokemon random Japanese words like "Bansai" which means "long life" and "Moku" which means "tree"... I still can't get the idea of having a Magikarp named Tree out of my head... :bag:

I only nickname pokemon that I think is special,cool or cute like my charizard I named him Flambo and its nice to nickname pokemon and let other trainer's see it,so then if u have a cool nickname for your pokemon and you beat like a dozen persons,you become famous through the pokemon network.
So yeah nicknames are kinda cool.

I think they'd be paying more attention to your OT if you were getting famous for beating people.
But that's just my opinion. xD
