Do you think core Pokemon games will ever change drastically?

I ask this because it's mostly just the same old thing over and over again. Pokemon X/Y mixed things up but the idea behind it felt the same IMO. Beat the gym leaders, journey through the map as a kid, attempt at catching/trading 'em all and defeating the elite 4 / champion.

Do you think Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will ever drastically change the formula?

MAYBE there could be a whole new story from someone's perspective in the core Pokemon world with plot twists. You can do mostly everything like how things are done in the core Pokemon games too.

What do you guys/gals think? :eyes:

We need a game where we can play as Miror B. and his lackeys. Have a dancing game on the side, some high class traveling and a full backstory on how he got his Pokémon with the ending being catching the Shadow Dragonite and losing it to Michael and then he goes back to dancing again or being a pimp because he wore purple and gold or just disappears altogether. I mean the GCN games did change the formula right? Just do it again that way and people wouldn't care.

If they’re smart, then I recommend that they shouldn’t. OG Pokemon Players are already annoyed at Pokémon changing things up with Let’s Go. So if they change a mainline game drastically, people will revolt.

Drastically change it?

Hell no! Pokemon has used the same basic formula for 20 years and it's still incredibly popular! However I do think they will keep making minor changes to the formula. Changing enough things to make the new games feel different but not enough that it doesn't feel like Pokemon anymore.
