Do you think Santa Claus was real?

I've been thinking about this for a while...

Even if he wasn't some magical being with a flying reindeer and the knowledge of who has been naughty or nice, do you think Santa Claus at one time existed or was made up by parents to get their children to be better?

I have a feeling some normal guy started giving away presents long ago with a small group of people and he got noticed for his good-doings. Then they made it a worldwide thing where parents would tell their kids about Santa being magical and all >.< and twisted around the story how he would come into your house at night.

What do you guys think?

I think he was a kind yet simple guy who was arrested for home invasion while trying to leave presents, and he went insane with grief over the accusations made against him (you know the sort >.>), and once he died the parents finally realized he was an OK guy and felt bad and tried to make him a hero instead by telling his tale across the generations-

Wait. Santa was discussed way before the 21st century. Negate my theory.

When I was little I did, but then again which kid didn't believe in the magical version of St. Nick? Eventually I caught on why my parents send us to our grandmother's or lock their bedroom door saying to stay of their closest. .

I used to, but now I stay up at midnight every Christmas Eve for some party or something, so all that spirit is gone. Plus "Santa" seems to only be giving me clothes and money rather than something on the wishlists I "sent" to him earlier in the month...

I was a skeptic about everything,so I was labeled the "Grinch" every Christmas because my little brother believed in Santa and everyone else went with it. Separating me from everyone else in the family. (My brothers are still jealous because they think I get the best presents though)

I think it's the latter because Santa and his presents doesn't have connection with jesus and his birthday, unless he represents the three wise men bringing presents to jesus but in my country, the 'three saint kings' as it's called, is a completely different holiday (on the 6th of January). Another argument is that in my country, on 6th of December, there's St. Nikola who also gives presents to good children and a stick wraped in silver or gold to bad children. So I say that santa is made up as much as jesus is (lol, kidding, don't ban me for that, please ,_,)
