Do you use the restore points in normal play?

So I was wondering, the restore points are exactly like emulator save states, so if you used them to beat a game then technically you could call them cheating the game in order to finish it. So what I was wondering is do you guys use restore points often and if so in your main profile or maybe a separate cheats file?
