There's this anime named Gintama, where Earth is in the Samurai age. But then aliens (amanto) arrive and take over the city called Edo. It turns kinda futuristic after the war (not shown as an arc in the anime) with spaceships and stuff.It's a comedy/action genre, so if you like those types of anime, I definitely recommend it. There's around 270 episodes. Though I doubt many people watch it still. Oh, and it also features references from other anime!
