oh... that stinks... you may need to bring it in for repair

I can't because my 1 year warranty is out

So I can't send it to Nintendo

my Mom says it cost money.I don't think we have the money to be using $100 just for repairing my 3ds >.>

Ehhh it's fine...You probably wouldn't find anything for free unless you have a really close friend who is a mechanical repair xP

No,no,no, What you are describing sounds like 2 Types of problem possibilities. 1 is bad but highly unlikely, the other is also bad, and inevitable. Number 1 damage is water damage. Have you had your 3ds anywhere water recently? Or have you even had it in the same area as there is water mist?(such as a hot shower) If a large amount of shower mist or a small amount of water got into your ds, It will often make your 3ds screen go black periodically. A good solution is sit the 3ds sideways in a bowl of white rice. Yes, it may sound stupid, but it works. If your positive it's not water damage, then it is defiantly number 2 that is the problem, or at least part of the problem. You cant avoid number 2. It just happens. Periodically, (as near as i could figure from asking, It's almost everyone with a 3ds older than 1 year) all 3ds's will begin to act up if it is older than 1 year. By act up, I mean you try to enter an app, it freezes up on you, and then the entire both screens will go completely black rendering it completely useless for several 10's of minutes, or even hours. Leaving it alone when this happens does not help at all. When this happened to me the first time, I was at a friends house. I was trying to get to my Netflix account so we could watch the flash(Yes, we had a perfectly good tv, but we were testing Netflix on my 3ds for the first time) I opened Netflix, clicked on the flash, and let it load. 20 minutes later, i look at it again, and if has frozen. My friend immediately said,"Uh-oh, it's not good. Your 3ds is already blacking out. Isn't it only barely a year old?" and i said,'' yeah, its barely a year, what gives?" From what i have figured out, it has nothing to do with the owner, it is just a flaw in the 3ds's circuit board. In my case, I have noticed it only acts up when certain things happen. 1: I open a brand new app for the first time. 2: there are too many devises connected to the same WiFi. 3:When my 3ds enters a new WiFi enviroment. Number 3 happens to me especially often. Every time i go to my friends house and try to connect to his WiFi, my 3ds freezes. Then it goes black. Enough of the problem descriptions, im gonna state solutions. There is no official solution i have figured out to make it stop blacking out altogether, but I have fuigured out 1 way that makes it pass much quicker. Press the power button twice in a row every minute. Make sure you press it down good, twice in a row. do this twice in a row every minute. No affect? If you have a 3ds game card in, take it out. also, You will also need to remove your SM card. Keep ding the power press method, and maybe after 10 minutes you will see a change in the black screen.(maybe less, but pay close attention at the shade of black your screen is the whole time! It is important!) The black screen will take on a darker shade of black, meaning it is now shut off. Still wait the 1 minute, and then try to power it on. If it works, power it off, put in the SM card, and put in your game card(If your using one) I hope this helps!

Np,just trying to help! If your 3ds has not done it until just recent, your lucky. Most start this WAY before. Anyways, if it helps at all, from what i hear from my friends who have the NN3ds XL, it does not have the same kind of flaws as the 3ds XL does,(So far)meaning the black out periods should not happen either. Before you buy another console from Nintendo, As for mobile, you should go for that.
