back in the 1980's I would get up very early. before the crack of dawn, to get my juice box and something to eat. I would turn the volume of the tv down very low, so it would wake anyone else up. I would put in one of my old school NES games to play. The room would be dark, and the only light is from the television set. But Mario never went down the wrong pipe like this.

I must admit I used to do something like that , but with some sort of gaming thing that I don't remember having , it was really fun even though it was not a Nintendo Console . Except that I would play in a lighted area usually at the dawn of the morning which was way more cooling that the rest of the day . I don't usually do that anymore but it was a really good time doing it

I miss those days. I remember waiting for Video Power to come on. Those were the Golden Days of gaming where you played in peace, without having some little kid screaming over the mic in an online game like today.

Yeah sometimes I wish I could do that again because I really don't play my 3ds or other games so often anymore ... It would be really fun to do that . I also had some of those nostalgic times like when the Nintendo logo going down and making that Mario coin sound ( if it is ) when on the original normal Gameboy screen . Wish I could do that again but then my gameboy broke >.<

I really, really miss the 80's. Waiting each month for the Nintendo Power magazine to come in the mail, And when it does you go straight to the cheat section or the guide section to see if they have a post of a game you need help with. Back then, There was no internet. No DVd/Blu Ray players. all we had was the old tv's a VCR, Cable. And the only thing I had that was a computer was my Nintendo Entertainment System. Those were the days.

I used to do it with my Nintendo 64 ;) I still do it sometimes! Those were the good ol days for sure, every morning=zelda OoT!

I did something very similar to this. However it was with the Game boy and I would use on of those pocket lights . Most of the time I would make a blanket fort and play my Game boy in it to "hide" from my parents. It was totally obvious what I was doing. Well if they saw what I was doing. lol I do not miss those days at all. I love being able to play when and where I want.

Haha, I'm 26 and I still do it. Wake up early, pour some coffee and crefully start gaming with less noise as possible to not wake my man. Then he wakes up and I get lectured for waking up too early on a week end day =P

I used to do that all the time, still do it today :p Though when doing it with modern consoles it doesn't quite capture the feel when you turn it on and get blasted with advertisements and social media before you can even turn the game on.

I never did that, :panda:

I think it's because I didn't own a TV when I was little. :giggle:

I used to do that, but replace Super Mario Bros. with Super Mario Bros. 2. I used to play the life out of that game on my Wii. Unfortunately, I would always die at the ice/cloud world. I was never extremely skilled at SMB.2, probably because it was somewhat before my time. :/

ya know, the gba virtual consol games still do the thing where you can hold start and select as the "Game Boy Advanced" appears to have it make extra sounds as it starts up

I used to do that all the time. I wasn't born in the 1980's but I would get up all early and play on my Wii before I would have to get ready and go to school. I still do that now. I get up if I can't sleep and play some pokemon or something until I get tired ans go back to sleep, or have to get up.
