Does Leveling up give me EV's?

I watched allot of videos on EV's and IV's, but none of them told me if I level up my pokemon, when it shows the stats, i'm not sure if that gives me any EV's. For example, defeating a shinx gives you 1 EV, so if I level up right after that battle and it says "Attack +1", does that mean I earned 2 attack EV's, or is it just updating me on what I already have?Lanncuu .jpg

When you level up, the stats it's showing you are you many stats you gained. Not the EVs. But everytime you defeat a Pokemon, you will get an EV

Actually, you get EVs as long as you do a battle where you gain experience. All those battles earn you BOTH Exp and EVs. Other battles don't earn you anything.

From what I know, EV, or Effort Values, are gained from defeating certain Pokémon. I believe the guide I read says is that if you defeated a Starly, you gained 2 or 1 EV stats in HP. A Pokémon can have a total of 255 EVs that you can earn but 155 EV stats can be given to a stat I believe. When your Pokémon becomes Lv. 100, the EVs gained will go to your Pokémon's stats. Certain items like Carbos and Speed Feathers can increase EVs and certain berries that can decrease them. But I'm still no expert on the subject. Here's a link about EV and IV training but I think it talks up to G5.

It's actually maximum 508 and max 252 in each stat

EVs are obtained after defeating a Pokemon. Each Pokemon gives different EVs to you depending on watch you defeat. The stats gained by levelling up a Pokemon are different from EVs. Those stats are based on the Pokemon growing and also vary upon each Pokemon. A competitive battler loves to ev train with hordes because they defeat 5 of the same pokemon at once, allowing them to get 5× EVs they normally would, even though hordes don't help much with levelling. EVs are pretty easy once you do it a few times, it's my most favorite out of the entire competitive mon making process honestly.
