Does Pikachu deserve to be the face of pokemon?

Of course he does. Everyone (or most people) love him. He is just adorable and cute and is just likable. Even tho there may be other Pokemon who are cute or bad pikacu defiantly deserves to be the face of pokemon (in my opinion)

Pikachu is the most well known and popularized by his own N64 game, playable character in other games, and is the main character of the Pokémon Anime and considering his basic but effective design and multiple appearances in other Nintendo games (OoT and Smash Bros.) I think Pikachu deserves to be the mascot. Although there is always other Pokémon some people or hardcore fans like more than Pikachu, you can't argue with his looks and amount of fan work with Pikachu in it.
 
I don't think Pikachu deserves to be mascot. He is over rated and actually sucks. Yes we have him in super smash bros but that about it. Maybe it is time for Nintendo to move on. Ever since pokemon lucario came out Pikachu has been having some good competition. Plus, his role in the anime is getting less important. Nintendo wanted a cute little rat for pokemon we should be raichu.

I say, yes Pikachu deserves to be the face of Pokemon. It's the most recognizable, it's playable in a few spin-off games and SSB, and it's one of the main characters of the anime. Plus, it's an amazing glass cannon if it's using its signature item, the Light Ball. Also, Volt Tackle on that thing is pretty sick (in a good way).
 
Clefairy was supposed to be Ash's Pokemon originally, so I believe that Clefairy deserves the limelight.

Dude , you kinda just prove my point as why Raichu should take his spot. Even though we have the light ball pikachu is still garbage and overrated. There is only one point for the lightball and that is to breed not battle. Raichu still has higher stats even when pikachu had the light ball so there is no point in the trouble.

Light ball gives Pikachu more Attack and special attack than Raichu, but Raichu has more bulk and speed. That's pretty much the only difference between the two. Also, Pikachu gets better coverage with the contest forms.
 
The question was does pikachu 'deserve' it. That depends, I guess. What does a pikachu deserve? Really, all it is is cute. Why didn't ash just pick charizard as his companion instead? Or maybe at this point he should just pick magikarp?
