Mario Maker Does Super Mario Maker mean the end of new Super mario bros

Mario maker has everything anyone needs to make a super mario bros game. So if nintendo releases a new super mario bros something, it wouldn't get any sales right. And mario maker would soon have its features as well. So do you think there's a chance well get anyomore mario bros games?
Even more, do you believe there will even be anymore 2d mario games anymore? (the second one is probably a yes but what could they do that mario maker won't have already done?)
 
No. As long as the Mario series can add new original features to the platforming genre, Mario will not die. Also, we're heading into an age where 3D Mario games offer fun gameplay and beautiful scenery. If Mario Maker does kill 2D Mario, it won't kill Super Mario.

Yeah mario is definitely still alive, but 2d mario isn't or atleast won't be.
It's messed up that everything is turning to 3d, not that it's bad, in fact they may be better, but if only there was something 2d mario could make, that wouldn't be in mario maker.
 
I think 2d Mario may actually end, there is quite the possibility. The fact that Mario Maker makes you create unlimited levels just proves that 2d Mario will die. What will happen is a more 3d Mario and 2.5 type of Mario in future games, kinda like in super Mario galaxy.

Again, anything is possible. Right now though, nintendo focused way too much on 2d Mario. Hopefully, a 3d Mario game once again preferably comes on the wii u.
 
I doubt it, Mario Maker was for the community after 30 years of supporting the franchise. Knowing Nintendo, they will make a Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo NX. They know that people will buy it and play it! We love all 2D Mario games, and Nintendo realise this. There are also 3D Mario games. I'm still hoping for a Mario Galaxy 3, but then again, who isn't?!
 
The main Mario series focuses on 2D Mario, so I don't think they would end the 2d Mario series. In the next 2d Mario game, they would most probably add a lot more features and better graphics, which they won't bring in Super Mario Maker.
 
It would make sense if Mario Maker was the end of 2D Mario unless they made Mario games specifically with in depth boss fights and a wider array of enemies or blocks or extra platforming mechanics. Heck there could even be a remake of Super Mario Land because it played and looked entirely different

But like what people above said there still is potential for 3D Mario games so Mario is still alive.
 
Unless there would be something like a "3D" Mario Maker (Which is quite unlikely due to how complex it might be), Super Mario Bros would still live on. I can't say for sure about 2D Mario games though. New features and assets can still be added to Super Mario Maker, which is still an active game.
 
I think they will just make a 2d mario for nx that has many new unique features.It will boost sales of the nx if it gets popular enough.Maybe they should make a mario-galaxy type 2d platformer that has gravity elements and launch stars and stuff like that.I think that would be interesting and hard to replicate in mario maker.

Really the only thing that you could truly make out of Super Mario Maker that should be identical to any of the official games would be New Super Mario Bros., and that's only because the engine uses the NSMB physics of jumping and such.

Despite that, new Mario games are likely to come out where there are new suits, features and more that SMM wouldn't be able to keep up with. So as far as it's concerned, the 2D Mario franchise should be fine so long as they keep innovating.

Well none of my friends like Mario (or nintendo) so I play Mario with my mom and you know old people and 3d does not go well with old people. My mom does not know where to go in 3d and in Super Mario Maker when she makes stuff it makes her brain hurt. LOL. But I hope the new super mario bros series doesn't end.
