I know this bothers most people and it compleatly bothers me. When your in a match and you have a terrible problem with lagging you usually get whooped very badly, you may even look pathetic. You regularly see people giving up matches due to terrible lagging. To be sincere I admire them, because they know that the match is not worth it......or dosen't like to play in sloooww motion XD. Anyway to make this clear, real matches are those you can give it all you got withougth any internet problems....

I know. It's so annoying to battle like that:vamp:. I usually battle when no one else in my house is using internet(usually at night:p) so that I can minimize the lag:sleep:. I had this friend who won a battle with me when I was lagging and he kinda told me I was a pokemon noob and I should give up pokemon:cry:

Pacey made a tutorial about how to stop lags in Smash Bros 3ds you should read it
http://forum.3dspedia.com/threads/tips-for-stopping-lag-in-smash-bros-for-3ds.11816/

Yeah, technically, it reduces lag by reducing the number of packets sent. But at one moment, lag will resume.
As I said a long time ago, Friend Battles are basically P2P thing. You don't really use Nintendo's servers (Only to connect to the NN + 3DS SSB4 server), so, it depends on both players' connection, but sometimes, lag/errors remains even with a good connection (Like when I play with 3dsatackman, where the 3DS totally freezes, making battles unplayable, or got random 005-XXXX errors).

As for when you play online with anybody, chances of lag are increased because of your connection, the opponent(s)'s connections, and the server.

And to get back to the subject; I don't consider matches with relatively high or medium lag win or losses. Because in those case, it's just pure luck.

I think most people, especially the ones like me who usually lose (so far, I'm getting better though! :p), don't complain about the lag because it's mostly thought to be a sore loser's excuse. Like in online FPSes, no one believes the guy who says his game is lagging.

I think that you shouldn't take it too hard on yourself if you lose a laggy match. Blame your ISP. :rage:

I remember me and @Artisan had a huge fight over input LAG. I did but no one believes the man that has input lag

No Johns. Also what Spinnerweb said.

Funny thing is I lose often in laggy matches! xD

although cancelling the match would be a good move, because it's not fair for any party involved. It can give an unfair advantage as delayed attacks on your part may not hit their mark.

Who is Johns?
No johns is a term that means no excuses. There was a professional smash player named John who became notorious for coming up with excuses whenever he lost. Since the smash community (and any game community, really) tends to look down on that, they came up with the term "No Johns" as a way to tell people that there are no excuses for a lost match

Oh my god it happens to me all the time. My game lags a lot and still win. I really don't call that a real victory.

I hate when that happens, I play as Ness so is too difficult to recovery with PK Thunder ;-;

It's annoying, but luckily when I play it lags while a hit is going on, for me the only lag I get mad at is that, darn, INPUT LAG!!!
It cancels my button presses, stops my speed and worse let's an opponent hit me and leaving the room because he thinks he's too good for me even though it's lags fault.....
