Dragon quest 8 won't hit North America until next year, Nintendo announced during the latest Direct presentation. The Nintendo 3DS remake, which was first scheduled for 2016, has been pushed into 2017.
Beyond that, there's still no specific release date for the 3DS port of the PlayStation 2 game yet. Japan's had the game for quite some time now, but Western fans of Square Enix's role-playing game franchise can make do with this autumn's release of Dragon Quest VII on Nintendo 3DS in the meantime.
That port of the PlayStation 1 game arrives on Sept. 16, and Nintendo also revealed today that pre-orders will receive an exclusive 3DS theme inspired by the game.
