And if so, what's your favorite one? Mine is lost isle by DarkFlameWolf. In a nutshell, it's what zelda 2 should've been.

I wasn't even aware there was fan games available, so no I don't play them.

I tend to mostly support official content, Zelda's timeline is confusing enough already, I wouldn't add anything else in there that's non official, it would confuse me even more XD

Legend of Princess, it's a side-scrolling beat 'em up in which Zelda decides not to wait around for Link and takes matters into her own hands :p It's pretty brutal.

The official games have gotten a little too easy imo. Fan games give a challenge that nintendo seems to refuse to give us. If your looking for some, I'd highly recommend zelda classic: it's a built from scratch engine based on zelda 1 that comes with a game maker to build your own quests, which a lot of people have done already. Lost isle uses a custom build of it (though I've heard it's been updated to run on the 2.5 build). I don't think I can share a link to it as some people might think it' s a rom, plus I don't really know how to do that:D.

There was one game that I played called Ocarina of Time 2d >.<
As the name suggests, it's basically OoT in a 2d perspective and the typical design models and environment of A Link to the Past. It's still a project in progress for a long time and I tried it, only to find a lot of lag and other buggy issues. It is by far the most interesting one I found :p

I dont play em i usually play that one super hard a link to the past rom hack because roms hacks are just way more clean, only fan game i have ever played is ocarina of time in a link to the past style and its actually pretty fun and that zelda maker fan game just sucked a lot, i just think rom hacks are better than fan games

You talking about parallel worlds. I played it before: most of the difficulty comes from knowing how to take advantage of the quirks of the engine. It's atill difficult, though. The real problem with rom hacks is you have the same limits as the dev team had when making the game. The way some of them are programed, though, prevent you from useing any enemy in any area unless you add to the sprite sheet, whixh not too many know how to do that. Go play the master quest hack for lttp if you want to see what happens when you use beamoses where there never were any.

For the most part, I tend to shy away from fan games for the most part, especially the low quality sprite-type ones that emerged and became so prevalent during the mid-2000s. However, those have thankfully begun to pass on and give way to higher quality fan game that are far more enjoyable to me.
