What are some of your favorite anime short film(s)? For those of you who don't know, a short film is typically a couple minutes long but could be as long as a typical episode, though usually the former because of budget restraints, I decided to make this thread so we could share and discuss our favorite short films and possibly give them a little more exposure.
Here is a list of some my favorite anime short films, in no particular order:
1.)On Your Mark - On Your Mark is a music video directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Don't know if you've heard of him or not, he's not very well known
) and is a story about two police officers trying to help a young girl escape from the government.
2.)Furiko - Furiko uses a pendulum to show the bittersweet passage of time as you are immersed in a story about a couple meeting and falling in love and their lives together, for those of you who have seen the movie "Up", be prepared for a similar experience.
3.)Happy Machine - Directed by Masaaki Yuasa, who is known for directing The Tatami Galaxy and Ping Pong the animation made Happy Machine as part of Genius Party which was an anthology of short films made back in 2007. Happy Machine explores the circle of life and if watching it reminds you of the Adventure Time episode "Food Chain", that will come as no surprise as that episode was also directed by Masaaki Yuasa.
4.) Ohayo - Ohayo shows us the many stages we go through when waking up in the morning, it was sadly the last project Satoshi Kon worked on and finished before his death in 2010.
5.) Me!Me!Me! - Probably the most well known on this list, as it got a ton of exposure back in November of last year, Me!Me!Me! despite from what some people would tell you, is not simply just a bunch of mindless fanservice, but actually a metaphorical commentary on modern day otaku culture. I do highly recommend it but it does feature some adult content and is not suitable for children whatsoever, so be warned.
