Mario Kart games have many shortcuts and glitches in them that make the game fun to play. In my opinion, without the shortcuts and glitches, Mario Kart wouldn't have been as great as it is today. My favorite shortcut/glitch was the Mario Kart Wii GCN DK Mountain Ultra Shortcut. Post in the comments which Mario Kart had your favorite shortcut/glitch and what was your favorite shortcut/glitch?

Mario Kart 7 had some pretty nice glitches before Nintendo updated the game. Well of course they had to update the game for online purposes but it was fun while it lasted. I haven't played in a long time so I'm forgetting the shortcuts in the game.

This was something a quite a long time so I may not know the track name . There was this cool shortcut that I knew in Mario Kart DS that there was this hole and the usual way was a large curve through it but with 2 mushrooms you can bypass it . My friend discovered this . I think the track had a Yoshi shape ... I think

My favourite was the one on Yoshi Circuit on Mario Kart Double Dash (Gamecube). It was the one where you had to time a boost off of an open edge part of the course, leading into a winding dark tunnel... It was so cool and when I was really little (5/6 years old) I was constantly trying to pull it off. When I eventually did, I cheered so joyfully... But I could never do it again. xD

Skip to 6:14 to see it ;)

You mean Yoshi Circuit? The one where you could jump over the gap (6:01 in the video above)? You could do it in both the GameCube and DS versions, but the one I liked best you could only do in the Gamecube one :( I was disappointed you couldn't do it in the DS one, it would have been cool.

The only glitch shortcuts I ever knew of was the Rainbow Road one in Nintendo 64 and the one in Maka Wuhu.

The second shortcut in that video was the one I was talking about.

The Maka Wuhu one though... It basically broke the online, thankfully they managed to fix it for multiplayer.

Nintendo always ruins the fun :( they're always taking out our favorite shortcuts. One really cool one was the rock-hop shortcut in MKWii Grumble Volcano. It was my 2nd favorite, but it was removed in MK8 DLC pack 1... -_-

One glitch that happened in Mario kart ds on DK mountain was that you can avoid all blue shells. What I did was get to the part where the snowballs are falling and when the blue shell comes just follows the path of the snowballs and get close to it. The blue shell hits the snowball and the snowball registers as hitting a wall. So you avoid both snowball and blue shell.

Well, that was more of a glitch than an actual shortcut, since it took a lot of time and preparation to actually get onto the rock in the first place. There was no way Nintendo could have seen that coming and the rock was probably only there for design purposes anyway. Although it was fun, I can see why they took it out.

@DeathDragon I can see why it wasn't in Mario Kart 8, but I know that they definitley knew about it. It cut off so much of the track that it would be unfair for people who can't do the shortcut or beginners, the experts would have a chance to lap them.

I agree that it is a bit unfair for beginners who can't do it, but it didn't take away an huge chunk of the course really, it would only put the experts slightly ahead of them. Plus most experts could probably get close to lapping complete beginners anyway :p I just thought it was a really cool shortcut though, I was disappointed but oh well, I guess Nintendo was only trying to be fair.

@DeathDragon Hopefully there will be a shortcut just like that one in Mario Kart 8 :D

@1SuperLuigi Yeah, but since I don't have and can't get MK8 (don't have a Wii U xP) I probably won't get the chance to experience it again. :( Isn't the Yoshi Circuit DLC already out though?

In GCN Luigi Circuit, when I need to turn around when the race starts and use a Mushroom on the corner of the bump and hop. When it was done correctly, I will go through the invisible barrier and fall through the hills and the character I'm playing will not make a sound. The screen will just blackout and Lakitu will bring the player to the track. This can also be done in Bowser's Castle, by going past the room with the Thwomps and then I should see two "hills" with a spike fence. I need to go to the first "hill" and use a Mushroom and hop. I will fly past the fence and go through the bar and fall into the lava.

My favorite shortcut is probably the one through the second-level shops on sunshine mall. The stores are just really neat! Sometimes I just sit in the store and pretend to be a customer. XD. My favorite glitch is probably the one that allows you to stop on the ramp going down to Funky Stadium. You can't win, but is it really losing?
