Favorite rival?

For me, I'd have to say my favorite rival had to be Silver from the HeartGold and SoulSilver games.
 
My favorite rival would have to be either Silver from HGSS, because he is actually kind of intimidating/has a personality that isn't generic, or Callum/Serena from XY because they were more relatable to than the rest of the rivals in XY and in most pokemon games.
 
My favorite rival is Green/Blue in all games he actually plays a role in! In the Kanto-based games, he's a great rival, strong, build very thoroughly, interesting, his attitude towards the player and he's always one step ahead in his own adventure, giving you a true rival feeling, especially when he becomes the Champion! He makes the games feel real so much that you can't help but want to surpass him! Since then, all other rivals are basically trying to surpass you, while always being underpowered! And even when he decides to resign from the position as Champion in the Johto-based games, he goes on to become the strongest Gym Leader (and also in the best Gym there is) to date!

My favourite rival is Barry. Probably because he was my first rival in a pokemon game. My first game was Pokemon Diamond. He's really funny because he says he will fine you and is always a step ahead of you. I suppose all rivals in Pokemon are a step ahead of you though.
 
My favorite rival is Blue because he's the most challenging one throughout all the series. Just because he became Champion makes him the most challenging.
 
Barry, best rival hands down. That blonde kid and his fining always made me smile. He's dead now ;-;
 
I'd say Cheren and Bianca from Black and White because they where my first rival's and in Black and White 2 you get to see that Bianca became a professer and Cheren became a gym leader

Couldn't agree more, in the last gens I almost felt bad destroying the rivals because they never stood a chance... but Blue... he definitely had it coming and it felt so good defeating him at the end of the game.

Deffo Green/Blue. Silver was great too, but tbh not as great.

I loved Blue and Silver, Blue because he was so eager to battle and be the best that I felt bad beating him each time. I also favored Silver because he was different, the others weren't mean and they were a friend, Silver was just mean and rude and those are my favorite characters.

I would say that my favorite rival(s) would be Cheren and Bianca. They were pretty much more like friends though :p I'd feel good whenever I beat Cheren but I kinda felt sad for defeating Bianca xD Those two didn't really fit in what would call a 'rival' but they technically were :p

Same, but Wally comes in a VERY close second for me because of character development. I know some people don't count Wally as a real Rival, because he only faces you a few times through the series, but the way he develops into a Trainer, starting after you as a boy who dreams of travelling to the other regions (he has a globe with pins tacked in places around Kalos and Unova), looking up to you and your father, Norman, and finally catching up with you quite rapidly at Victory Road always inspired me.

He also uses a Gallade instead of a Gardevoir in the remakes, and his Mega Pendant is a hand carved Gallade head!!

For me, my favorite rivals are both Shauna, and also Wally, even though some may consider these as pseudo-rivals. Shauna because she is pretty cute, having cheery personality and sharing some good moments in the game (it's thanks to her that I started to become interested in Pokémon game again after being bored for months), and Wally because even though he was starting off with Ralts, he grow stronger as time goes on, and when he's battling me with Gallade in the remake (with that awesome theme), I knew it that he could become a worthy rival for me.

My favourite Rival would have to be Blue/Green/Gary (i like to call him gary since i played pokemon yellow) He is my favourite because i felt like he WAS an actual rival from teh begining you meet him. he gives you that bit of rivalry attitude whenever you talk to him and his goals are the exact same as yours to be the best and be the champion so it feels more of a rival then some of the other rivals that are offered in the game. You shared the same dreams and at the end of your journey it comes back down to just you and him for one last rival battle as you both fight for the dream you both tried so hard for. the ultimate rivalry!

I really like him too! his design is pretty cool, who doesn't like red hair? xD

I remember when he used to knock the player backwards when he was spying/looking into Professor Elm's lab. He was like 'go away!' So harsh. Stealing a Pokemon for his starter is so rebellious. xD

I think that gary was one of the best rivals I know in my childhood. Starting off, he chooses the pokemon in which you are elementary weak and he has also great advantage in the story upon you. Also its words like saying: "your pokemons are weaker than mine" makes him a perfect rival for every pokemon gamer that started playing pokemon since pokemon red, blue or yellow

Blue, followed closely by Silver. I don't get why they stopped making jerk rivals. Beating Blue and Silver actually felt good, and they had decent character arcs. Especially Silver.

HeartGold and SoulSilver cause i love how he just stole pokemon instead of it just being his son/grandson.... it mixed it up a little bit. Plus, If you talk to him before you get your first pokemon hell just tell you to buzz off because your a little idiot.... (Not litterally what he says obviously) Also I love how he developes as a character unlike gary where he would just come up to you and say battle me.
