I think that either one has advantages but I don't know which one should go with my moveset.

Currently:
(Shiny) Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
Brave Nature
- (Power Whip)/Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Leech Seed/Protect has to go hand in hand. I could do,

(Shiny) Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
Brave Nature
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

Where Power Whip and Thunder Wave would stay together. I am trying to set up Stealth Rock so I don't know what to do. PW does solid damage and great type coverage, but GB does even more damage usually but not as good type coverage.

Why not just ditch protect and keep both of those moves?

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 88 Def / 168 SP Def
Brave Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect Power Whip

Even with no ATK EVs, gyro ball still hurts and power whip is just for those pesky water and/or water-ground types.

Normally when you plant your seeds, the person switches out their Pokemon if they can't deal sufficient damage to your Ferrothorn. That gives you an opportunity to set up stealth rocks or hit them with a hard gyro ball.

Ferrothorn has a terrible case of 4MSS (4 Move Slot Syndrome), it would like to run Stealth Rock, Spikes, Leech Seed, Protect, Power Whip, Gyro Ball, Thunder Wave and Knock Off, but it can't, whether not you use Power Whip or Gyro Ball is entirely team dependant and what coverage you need, having difficulty with Latios/Latias, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Beedrill and Landorus? Run Gyro Ball. If you're having difficulty with Azumarill, Mega Gyarados, Hippowdon, Mega Swampert and Excadrill run Power Whip.

Oh whoops I already had replaced Gyro Ball with Stealth Rock...

(Shiny) Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet

- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

This moveset feels kinda messed up... I will change it to

(Shiny) Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
Brave Nature
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave/Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
But I still think Thunder Wave is good with Power Whip >.< I dunno what to doooo :(

Gyro Ball if not using Thunder Wave and/or need coverage. Power Whip if you have extra space left over. Protect isn't recommended imo unless you have Lefties, Leech Seed, and/ or Ingrain (to prevent forced switch outs).
