Yeah, that's a negative part of it.

There isn't anything like that. There are no in-game (real money) purchases in it. The only additional purchase is if you have Collector's Edition, which provides bonus gear, mounts, e.t.c.

Part of the 2.2 update involves the addition of "additional retainers via micro transaction"

So, cash shop. I don't know what retainers are, but I do know what microtransactions are. Just a bigger word for cash shop.

Not really a fan of these online "pay to play" games. I didn't even know you had to pay a fee regularly to update your subscription, I was planning on getting it, but now I'm not sure, I saw it on sale a while ago on the PS3 PSN, good-thing I didn't buy it.

That's the sort of game I hate the most. Pay to win, Pay for better items? No thanks. I'd rather play FF& all over again.

So? it doesn't mean that you have to pay for every small gimmick. Team Fortress 2 is an online game. You don't need to pay for anything besides extra hats, and you can unlock guns by playing the game. The Hats are purely cosmetic.

It's not, really. It has virtually zero things in common with the rest of the 'core' FF games, aside from maybe a race here or a monster there.

I plan to later this summer on my Playstation 4, it seems interesting. Does anyone know how much the subscription costs? I can't find it anywhere online.
