Didn't know this was a thing but Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It's better than not having any Final Fantasy at all on the Nintendo Switch ;u; No release date yet.

Official overview of the game:
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, fans and newcomers alike can follow the journey of crown prince Noctis and his brothers in arms, Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus, with fully voiced key event scenes and faithfully recreated battles.

All of the treasured moments from Final Fantasy XV, like driving the Regalia across breathtaking landscapes, camping, chocobo riding and more, can be experienced in a whole new way with the game’s creatively reimagined art style and in HD resolution for the Nintendo Switch.

Wait, a pocket edition of Final Fantasy is coming to the Switch? I guess it’s interesting, to say the least. I’ve never been big on the Final Fantasy series, so it’s not that news breaking to me. However, I will say that it’s a cool idea, and hey, if they want to do it, then I won’t stop them. Tbh, I’ve wanted to try the series for a while now, so this might be a good first game to try out.

As ive seen both games in action, i can explain the appeal of both. FF 15 has a complex combat system that can be used simply, and has tons of sidequests galore so you can spend as much time as you want in its world. Pocket edition is really a smaller version of the same game. Combat is similar, but simplified, and sidequests are a minor thing. This is mostly just for people who want to experience FF 15’s story but doesn’t have time to actually play the game.
A good way to explain it is while FF15 is almost open world, its pocket edition is mostly linear, focusing soley on major plot points and some of the more interesting sidequests.
The story is exactly the same, you just can’t do much else.
Graphics are made to look more like FF3 on the 64, but it suprisingly works decently while the original game looks like almost real life. Combat is still fun, just with less options.

FF3 was Not on the 64, and tbh I’m not too shocked they ported the pocket edition considering the massive game the original is. Not sure if I’ll pick this up, especially if it does not get a physical release, even though I generally like FF games.

Oh, right. The mobile version of FF3 looks like 64 graphics so i got confused.

Yeah they remade a lot of the early Final Fantasy games like 4 and 3? I think? for DS and when they made mobile ports they used the remade versions. The DS is roughly the game power (maybe a little less) of a Nintendo 64, so often the games look similar on those systems.
