Every time I tried to run Firefox, my screen goes black. I don't know why it is happening. Is my graphics card bottlenecking the CPU, or is Firefox just too much?

Here's my specs.

Windows 10
16 gbs of RAM
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
AMD FX 8-Core 4.0 ghz
Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X

I don't know if it is happening with other programs. I hope my PC is okay.

Try disabling all the extensions (especially Shockwave Flash) and see if it still causes problems. Your PC's specs are really high so I doubt that's the problem, but extensions often cause issues with any browser.

If it just won't go away, you can always switch to Google Chrome :p

Firefox definitely isn't too much. That's the browser I use on all my laptops, including my Aspire One. And you can check on the internet, your specs are a lot higher than those of my Aspire One.
So yeah, I don't know what the problem is but it's not about power.

Thanks! It's possible that the extensions are the culprit, and maybe the themes. I use Firefox for VideoDownload Helper, but since it does run with Chrome as well, maybe I'll switch.

Also, I can't open Firefox, since it will crash my PC. So, I can't disable the extensions. I may have to uninstall it.

If you intend to reinstall it, the problem might not be completely solved - it will still retain the extensions and other data, so once you uninstall it you should follow these steps as well:

Actually, I do have CCleaner to help remove those data. Will that do, or should I maually delete them?

First off, CCleaner only clears the "useless" data and not all of it. That means you need to do it manually. Second, what is the computer new? If it is and you just built it, check whether the PSU can supply enough electricity and constantly too! Third, unistall Adobe Flash and Shockwave completely from your computer, then try to run Firefox. If it doesn't work, uninstall Firefox completely too and download a fresh installation, then try with that! Then, if it works, reinstall Flash and Shockwave, every time checking if it messes up the Firefox or not. If nothing works, I'll give you some other suggestions.

PS: Don't use CCleaner, it's one of the worst programs there is for the role it's supposed to do. Get Glary Utilities!

I guess I'll use Glary Utilities if it is free. I also got AVG Zen 2015, but I guess you suggest a better free AV software.

Oh, I guess I should tell you my PSU. It's 750 watts. Is that enough power? And yes, I built it recently.

I'll try all of those, including uninstalling Flash. I'll try anything that works.

This may seem obvious, but did you try reinstalling it? I had a problem with Chrome once and reinstalling it fixed the problem. If it's happening with other programs it's probably most likely your pc, so dun blame Firefox >.<

It looks like my PC is still running. The other programs don't have the same problem. Of course that I uninstall Firefox, but I install and use Chrome. If you say that Chrome does the same thing, then . . . I guess Firefox isn't to blame? Is Flash the problem? What other addons is the culprit?

I thought of something. In Windows 10, there's a new browser called "Edge". I wonder if I should disable that? I disabled Internet Explorer, so maybe having multiple browsers can be bad to have.

Chrome did the same thing from me. I think I deleted some files cause I was trying to remove an extension which caused it to break >.<'

Well, I done everything, including installing Chrome. It looks likes it's in working condition. Maybe it's true that Flash is decreasing the performance. It's a shame because there are some video sites that still relies on Flash. Then again, I could try to install it.

I did try to look over what is the cause. Even Chrome freezes. It seems to be only affect any browsers. So far, nothing is happening with any high-performance software like Unity and Blender. I wonder what's wrong with my video card. Maybe it does need more power, or maybe it is really bottlenecking with my CPU. I did manage to buy a new PSU that is 1000w. I don't know if that's going to work. All I know is that my video card did require two 8-pin connectors to compensate for the power and the fans included.

Well, my PC goes black when I tried to click the Start button. I don't know what's wrong anymore.

I bought and install a new PSU, in which it produces 1,000 watts. I thought maybe my graphics card is too powerful, and yeah, it is because it requires 750 watts to run, which is the max for my old PSU. If that doesn't work, then I have to downgrade my card, which I have.

I wonder if temperature is also a factor. Can PCs be too cold to run? I usually live in 40º F if possible, which today it is. I know PCs can overheat, but freeze?

CPUs can run at anywhere between -5ºC and 75ºC internal temperature without any problems whatsoever! (use google for the conversion) Anyway, when a graphics card's specs read 750W minimum supply, it's actually around 500W, unless you are using hydrocoolers and one of those "flashy" cases that light up! Alone, a GPU hardly takes 100W, so this will help you calculate better! Delete all browsers, then delete all browser data (from "roaming", you probably know what I'm talking about) and completely remove Adove Flash and Shockwave! Then use a program like Glary Utilities to wipe any traces from your hard drive and then reinstall everything in this order, browser→Adobe Flash→Adobe Shockwave! This should fix it. Also, the browser hardly uses 16MB or your graphics card's memory, so the problem isn't there!

-5º C is 23º F. That's as cold as where I live at night. My apartment is usually that cold! I guess I should use the heater or wait until it warms up. Also, that's interesting about the graphics card. The card itself does light up and has light indicators. Check out "Sapphire Vapor-X". The motherboard also has light indicators. I guess I'll be good with the new PSU. Still, what will happen if I can't even click a program because it freezes if I do? Will Safe Mode helps? Do I have to reinstall Windows 10 (which I can't beause I got Windows 8 software)? Or maybe I have a terrible graphics card and need a reliable one? I do hate the idea of spending more money . . .

You have a great graphics card, so no worries there. Vapor-X needs 132Watts to run fully, which you already have with much more in excess! Just follow the steps I mentioned and if the problem isn't solved, then you will not only have to reinstall the Windows, but also need to completely format your hard drive to make sure the problem goes away for sure!

Use internet explorer. Firefox probably jealous of it or something.
