Galak-Z is one of my favorite games on PC, but is variant S worth playing?

Well, first you must know it is a free to play game that is a port of a phone game. The controls on switch are only a slight improvement from the touch controls, and touch control is still available in the switch version.

The story is set right after the events of GALAK-Z, so thats good i guess. GALAK-Z kinda left on a cliffhanger.

There is only tiny grunting, instead of the fully voiced goodness of the original.

While missions are still randomly generated, there are no powerups to find and each mission is individual, probably so its easier to play on the go. At first your ship moves painfully slow, but you can upgrade it so maybe it gets as fast and fun as the original. Probably not though.

The music is still good though.

Btw for plot reasons (or for lasy game designers) the transformation functionality doesn’t work anymore. You have to choose one form or the other for each mission.

The free to play aspect is the only way to repair your ships is to pay the in game currency, which is also used to upgrade stuff. You can wait 24 hours for the ship to automatically repair, but yeah, its a free to play game. Has gatcha elements in the bots you install to upgrade your ship. Completely random what bot you get when you pay the ingame currency.
