It's seen in SMB2, SMB3, NSMB, the Pokemon games up until Gen 5 came around, Yoshi's Island, and maybe others. I'm sure there won't be any more.

I just think that simulated gambling isn't good for kids (haha and so are FPS games) and Nintendo wouldn't have a family image if their games had a noticeable amount of gambling in them but if there were future games with simulated gambling then the next one in line would be a R/S/E remake. And gambling isn't fun in a game anyways.

I definitely agree that gambling and fps games are the best for kids. Remind me what the gambling was from SMB3 & NSMB ...

Well SMB3 had the toad houses with the slot type games and matching ones (and digging if you had an E-Reader). NSMB had gambling minigames on it (with cards and coins. It was legit gambling).

Lol the cool kid slang: Legit :p
Anyways, I really spent a lot of time in Pokemon Fire Red trying to get enough money to buy, remember that Porygon? :) Oh old times :giggle:

Interesting. I can definitely see Nintendo revisiting the mini game ideas form SMB3 - they don't really fit gambling by definition (their is no risk or wager) I guess I'm not familiar with the NSMB gambling - it must be from the DS original as I've played all the others.

what? there's gambling...in Nintendo Games? how can that be? sneaky Nintendo...xD

It should not be allowed!

It isn't gambling technically...
You're not offering money to win more money.

With that concept, I can go to an arcade, spent one coin in a pinball arcade, and if I have luck. I can get an extra game.
It would be gambling in some way.

I don't think it's the gambling I would consider bad, it's more of a fun-to-bet gamble, nothing addictive, or attract some's attention, enough to make them addicted to it. And, a lot of games today have gambling like that, it's been present all the time..

Though not a 1st party game, there was a big casino game back on the SNES that was fun to play.

Oh, yeah, I remember. It's a fun game with progressive codes to continue your last gameplay. It was more fun to see the outcome than actually gamble (at least for me).

I remember playing pokemon red and playing in the gambling part for a long time to try to get a bunch of coins. You could buy rare pokemon and some good TMs. I never thought is was gambling when I was that young, lol.

Well , I wouldn't really say the term gambling much but it is kinda true , though I don't really think that it is such of a really bad thing in its way of presentation . But I guess that it was kinda the truth but it was still some kinda feature to spice up the game , right ? :p

Is it weird that I tended to have fun with the Luigi card games which had gambling in Super Mario 64 DS/New Super Mario Bros.? :panda:

Oh well,on the topic,I never seemed to spot that it was gambling on those minigames I've played, and it wasn't really the thing I used to play the most on those two games,so they were pretty much side distractions perspectively. And technicaly,Nintendo still has this activity in their most recent games, like Super Smash Bros. 4.You might not know or even bother about it,but in the online mode, there's this mode called 'Spectate',where you bet on the fighter/fighters you think that are going to win,and once the match is done, you'll win double or lose all of the coins wheter you betted on the victorious or lost fighter.Yup,Nintendo still is a bit sneaky until this day... :pompus:

I miss the game corner from the Pokémon games! I could be able to get some Awesome TMs such as Ice Beam and Psychic. I could also get pokemon like Porygon, and Dratini. Those were the days. I think Nintendo delt with this issue in the HGSS Games by putting in that Voltorb flip game for the US Versions.
