Hardest dilemma ever... Advice ?

So basically, I have the choice between those two options. The first option isn't the real thing but it's comparable in terms of rage in my opinion.
1) Own all 3DS models (from 2DS to New 3DS XL) but being forced into only using the 2DS. Even though all other consoles are working, they are out of my reach.
2) Use what I want but lose my MH4U savegame. And my other savegames too but I actually only care about my 500 hours on MH4U.

So, what would you do in my stead ? I honestly can't choose -.-

About option #1, do you already have them all? If so, can't you just play MH4U on the 2DS and the other games on the other systems? Can you post a few more details? Just know that it all comes down to whether you have rare items on MH4U or not, since you can always ask help on the pedia for farming the easy ones.

Well, as I said, option one isn't the real thing, and I replaced it with something most people here could understand :D
Otherwise, I can just put the whole true story here, it's just going to be long to read for you.

So, for quite some time now, I've been using pirating tools on my 3DS XL, but pirating nothing. I basically only use those tools for homebrews and other openness-related things that have nothing to do with piracy. You may think this is stupid, and yes it is, especially considering that this tool is really convenient to use for pirates, but really (read: REALLY) annoying to use for people like me. That's why I considered switching to a new hack that is now out and stable, and that suits my needs a lot better (a lot less pirate oriented but I don't care, and a lot (read: A LOT) more convenient to use).

The problem is that due to Nintendo trying to stop pirates, if I switch to that less pirate-oriented hack, I can't use any savegame I have got now. Yes, you read right, by trying to stop pirates, they also prevent people from leaving the pirates they never liked. And yeah, I only care about MH4U, the other games don't matter as much.

So the real choice is :
1) Keep using that stupid first hack even though I know that I can use something that is a lot better (and that actually works, I tried it)
2) Use the new one but lose my MH4U savegame

And actually, the real problem about MH4U isn't really getting the items. It's really easy nowadays to get anything you want without even farming. So basically I could just do that...
But that's not the spirit. I'd like to keep my 500 hours and be able to say "I got my armors by farming them" instead of saying "well, I had armors I deserved but due to not being a pirate, I had to use hacks to get them back, flawless logic".
Or yeah, I guess I could start over for real and get everything back after 500 new hours but that would be very annoying...

Well, I got some middle ground for you. Keep playing MH4U on the 2DS or wherever you are playing. As for the other consoles, if you have all of them, simply change the hack to the newer on on just 1 or 2 and keep the others as is. Also, to make matters easier, if you export then import the savegames (many games let you do that), they CAN be recovered (tested by me on a friends 3DS, switched from that Cubic Ninja hack to a completely different on)! If you are the same as me and your pride gets in the way in such cases, then just leave things as they are now.

You didn't really get what I meant, but that's kind of my fault for trying to simplify too much :p
There is actually only a 3DS XL, no 2DS and stuff (well, I own a New 3DS XL but I don't use it). The only dilemma is keep the old annoying hack or use the new one and lose my savegames.
The only reason why I replaced the choice 1 with a story about a 2DS is because everyone here knows about the 2DS, but not everyone knows about hacks. So I replaced my story about hacks with a story about a 2DS so people can choose without starting doing some research to know what I'm talking about.

And no, they can't be recovered since they don't use the same encryption on both hacks (they are not homebrew hacks, I'm talking about custom firmwares here). And I actually tried a homebrew to get my savegame out of MH4U but it didn't want to work since it was also expecting the new encryption -.-
So yeah, I'd need to convert savegames from old encryption to new one to be able to play them using the new hack...

Answer this and you will have your answer: How much does your MH4U savefile matter to you? Simple as that!

Haha ! Well, if I was able to answer that question so easily, I would not have made that thread :p

But now that I think a bit more about what you said in your previous post, if I make a new savegame, that one would be backup-able and recoverable and so on I think... not the current one. So yeah, that's really 500 hours vs super-convenience here -.-

If you have the time to play those 500 hours again, then go for it! That's what I would do!
PS: On the PSP I switched to CFW and discarded more than 3000 hours of playtime some years back! Don't be stingy with just 500!

You know what ? I think I'll do this. Not only because of all of what you said, but also because I didn't have any goal left in MH4U, so why not start a new game ? And I even have an excuse to do so :p

So yeah, people are obviously still free to give their input and try to convince me to do otherwise, but I'm still not as stuck in my dilemma as before now.

Necropost. But I actually managed to get my savegame back, months later, now that the "first hack" decided to be smart guys (and they actually became really smart o.o). So yeah, if people play MH again with me, it will be with the Gold-Crown me again, with tons of armor sets, instead of the not advanced me with less armor sets :D
I only lost like 30 hours of gameplay due to not having a recent enough backup, but still, I got 487 hours back so I won't complain :p

edit
After checking my Guild Card in detail, it seems like what I lost was the part when I started playing the Insect Glaive lol. I only have a Caster's Rod and 9 quests with an IG...
But at least I've got my DB and my Bows back so I can work on my Bounding Dalamadur again :D
