I dunno if this was only me or what , but in Pokemon games , when I play , there's always this time where when I use a Repel / Super Repel / Max Repel , I still encounter wild Pokemons >.> It was pretty annoying . It always happened at least once in all of the Pokemon games I've played .

So does this ever happen to you before or any opinions ?

That happens to me when I'm using it in the caves, where Pokémon spawning is the worst. It's so annoying. I wish repel would do as it says because so far it's not worth it's money in the game.

This will and can happen if the pokemon you are encountering are equal or higher level compared to the strongest pokemon in your party. And yes I do agree, it is a MASSIVE pain. I have no idea why game freak Implemented it. They should remove it gen 7....

That's probably because the wild pokemon you encounter are higher leveled than the lead pokemon in your party. It happened to me before, and it's annoying to run from too @-@

Ummm.... the way repels work is that whichever Pokemon you have in the top left slot will depend in whether or not you run into a wild Pokemon. So say you use a repel and you have your level 1 Pokemon out front. And all the Pokemon in the wild grass there is level 30. You're going to run into Pokemon no matter what since your Pokemon aren't high enough leveled. So your first Pokemon has to have a higher level than the wild Pokemon in that area.

HAH! I SEE WHAT YOURE DOING!!! IM GONNA WIN!!!

*ahem* I mean, I think it just decreases the chances of you encountering wild pokemon, but it doesn't completely eliminate the chance of one popping up, and that's why you still encounter some. I don't know what factors add to that, but it's really the only thing I can think of

This doesn't happen to me, actually. Mostly because I always keep my Pokemon at generally high levels.

I have never used Repel in Pokemon. I'm afraid of missing out on a chance to catch a good random Pokemon; plus, EXP. If I feel there are too many random encounters, I can use Run, but that rarely happens - I'd rather battle.

Amazing. Never used a repel before? Even after you beat that part or the game and you want to get from place ot place? Shiny hunting? Wow. You can use DexNav and sneak up on the actual good pokes. I never had this happen to me because usually my highest level Pokemon is in the lead xD Must be really irratating though >.<

It happened to me when I didn't realize how they worked.

"An item that prevents any low-level wild Pokémon from jumping out at you for 200 steps after its use."

- copied and pasted from Serebii.net

But now that no longer happens to me (except when I'm in la-la land!)

That never happened to me. I guess it's because I don't use it normally. Mostly I'd use it on the Dex Nav or when my Pokemon's HP is down to red. So I think it's because when you're steps have gotten to the max or there are higher leveled Pokemon than yours.
