Have you ever attempted to capture every pokemon possible?

I wonder if anyone ever aim/attempted to catch every pokemon on the pokedex.
I tried this once and I lose interest after 20 pokemons or so :p. Too lazy to run between the computer and pokemon mart.
It would be cool if anyone could catch all the available pokemon though.
 
I would try but the thing is I can't trade or battle any person or use the PSS to connect to the internet,i can only trade with persons locally that is why I didn't bother to do it.
 
I have never done so and probably never will. 90% of the time I only capture a Pokemon because:

  • it's cute
  • I want to add to my Pokedex even though I know I'll never use it, just to get Sycamore's praise :p
  • I'm gonna lose to I try to end the battle
  • I don't want to battle because the random encounters are too dang frequent :giggle:

i have many years ago in pokemon diamond but after a while i got tired of going/flying to every place in the region. but in pokemon y i finished the pokedex it was hard but i finished it. It took me at least 10 months to complete because everyone in the GTS wants very rare legendary pokemon like shaymin and deoxys. And at the time i had no legendaries so..
 
I don't think I even tried...too much hassle/hard work, not to mention time consuming as well. Trading does play a part, but that just makes it easier to get lots of Pokedex entries. :p
 
I have, back in generation I. I caught them all in Pokemon Blue. Including Mew, using the Nugget bridge glitch.
I'm trying to do the same in Y, but I won't, cuz Omega/Alpha are coming soon, and I want to dedicate my time to it.
 
To be honest, I've never tried. It takes too much work, and it's pretty time consuming. I would try if I wanted to complete the PokeDex, but... No.

I only catch a Pokemon if it:
  • Is a Pokemon I don't have recorded in my PokeDex
  • Apart of my dream team
  • Has a cool design

That's cool! You have a lot of patience.
Well, I think it is possible for old generation pokemons as there is much less pokemon to catch. There are also a lot of other good games nowadays and I guess those distracts you from focusing on fully completing just one game.
 
I have did it once on pokemon emerald (I wanted those jotho starters so badly). Which still is my favorite and most played pokemon game. And it was also kinda challenging because you had to trade with people locally if you want to get certain pokemon.

In Pokemon Y. Took me from November to about April :p Well, I only got Hoopa and Volcanion this month, so technically it was from November to.. November. A year :p

I'm currently working on it. A little over 500. The legendaries are probably going to be the biggest problem for me.

I have 720 so far, still waiting for the last one to be wifi-tradable, i was at around 450~500 when i decided to actually capture them all, with the help of GTS and wonder trade, i finished capturing the remaining pokemon after about 3 weeks.
