How did you discover Pokemon?

I got Pokémon Red and a Gameboy for Christmas in 2010. I thought "Looks interesting, Pokeyman - stupid name though"

I started the game. I couldn't figure out how to get out of the house though - took 10 minutes. I eventually managed to get out though. After about 20 minutes of playing I thought "Im gonna like this"

Nothing beat learning how to find Mew and finally catching it. Missingno. and the Rare Candies really helped my team as well. :3

Here I am 10 years later with 3D Pokemon!

I started on Red/Blue too! It was a great game. I remember trying to level up my trusty Venusaur to level 100. I though once they reached level 100 they would die. I was disappointed though. I remember doing the missingno glitch too. Good times...

Pokemon Gold.

Wanted Pikachu SO BAD, but got me a Totodile. Looked cool. Then, I found my love for the game by catching and loving each Pokemon that I encountered. I especially loved my Pidgeot and Ampharos.

Ever since then, Johto has been a great influence, even with Heartgold being my first game for the DS.

Venusaur grew to Level 100!

Huh? Venusaur is dying!
*slowed down version of evolution music and animation of Venusaur flickering and disappearing*
Venusaur went to Pokémon Tower. RIP Venusaur.

This is how I imagined it:

Venusaur grew to level 100!
Uh oh! Venusaur is dying! Take it to the Pokemon Center!
*goes to pkmn center*
Nurse Joy: I'm sorry but your Venusaur is dying. Please take it to Pokemon Tower.
*takes to the tower*
Random person there: Oh your Venusaur is dying! I'll bury it!

Obviously it didnt do that.

You got a Gameboy in 2010!? That's an antique!
I started out in the early 00's playing my friend's copy of Crystal. I definitely understand your difficulties getting out of the house; it wasn't always easy to figure things out with those graphics!
Eventually, after borrowing my way through Ruby and FireRed, I got my own DS and my own copy of Pokémon Diamond. Turtwig and I smashed our way to the Hall of Fame in three days.
Those are some of my best Pokémon memories. I feel like not only did I grow up with Pokémon, but Pokémon grew up with me.

I actually got 3 gameboys in 2010, along with Pokemon yellow and Red in their full boxes!! Theyre worth like 200$ each.

Torterra is great! Thanks for sharing your story!

Those are things of legend! I envy you!
The most interesting piece of Pokémon memorabilia I have are a couple of base set cards. (I actually started out in the TCG)

The first time I discovered Pokémon in general, was from a magazine where it covers some stuffs about it. Later on, the anime's popularity sparks to the point that I can watch it from my cousin's and my neighbor's house. And then, one of my cousins happened to play Pokémon RBY on his Gameboy Color and he let me borrow it for a while, so that's how I started to know Pokémon.

Honestly, the way I discovered it was spin off games. Pokémon Rumble on the Wii was my very first Pokémon game I ever played. My cousin introduced it to me, and I played nonstop. Eventually, I got pretty far, and took a break. Never played it again. I need to go back to that game someday...

The anime was the 1st time I saw but as far as that games it was a while but my mom bought me a game boy color and the men in black game (witch sucked). Once I got a job I wanted to buy games I would enjoy so I went with pokemon yellow for my 1st pokemon game. Since it was my 1st hand held I wanted to make sure I would like the games I get for it and I enjoyed the anime so I figured I would enjoy the games too.
