Hey guys, so yes this post is about the legendary Zelda 2. Legendary not for the game itself, but for being rather popular. I mean when it was being released people looked all over the world to have their own game cartridge of it. And when they did find it...............it wasn't what they expected.

Zelda 2 is known for being one of the strangest Zelda titles(Apart from CD-I games) And its also known as one of the worst games Miyamoto has ever worked on. But does that make this a bad game? Well while it does have alot of bad things about it, what about all the good things that came from this.

Zelda 2 was meant to be the start of what Zelda was really meant to be. It was gonna be a RPG at first with a wide variety of characters. Zelda 2 shows these roots with a level up system, overworld exploring, various magic skills, and just overall presence of the game.

Some changes were good so they eventually became parts of future Zelda titles. Like the side scrolling became a segment in the Gameboy Color Zelda games. As well as some of the items was later reused for later Zelda titles. So with that said what do you think? Was this really a bad game?

No it's not a bad game, it's a real pain in the tail but most Nintendo games were like that then. Remember the lost levels of super Mario?

I have pretty mixed feelings regarding Zelda 2. First off, it was a significant step away form the previous game, one that I feel was definitely in the wrong direction. It was clearly not what people wanted, so why Nintendo chose to go this way was beyond me. However, the gameplay isn't terrible and neither really is the sidescrolling, as much as I dislike it...

To be fair, this was in an age of gaming where experimenting on what worked and what didn't in video games and franchises were vital. All people were familiar with was the original Zelda game at the time and unbeknownst to Nintendo, that had to remain the standard. If Zelda II was under any other name back in the day, it would have had its fair share of praise without the stigma of being sequel to a well-loved title.
