Surprisingly, I found level 9's to be astonishingly easy. You need to have near-perfect timings, and that's what I got back in the day from playing SSBM. I guess my skills brushed offSince I'm an aspiring competitive Player, I do the typical competitive ruleset: No Items, Omega Stages. Besides, Level Nines are hard enough without the luck factor...

That's TRUE. I had a lot of trouble trying to learn Pikachu, he's too quick for me.I played more Brawl, so that's probably why I'm a bit off kilter. There are some days I do it no problem, but when I'm first learning a character... Ow.
Also, something I realized from playing For Glory which ties into this: people spam a lot.
I use this persons rules (looks like an average tournament ruling because I've seen games start with exactly 7 minutes and 30 seconds on the clock counting down). Although items only work if they are used right and they hit. Most of the time that never happens unless someone is either really trying or the hit person isn't trying at all. Also I like it if I use stages with almost no hazards or at least ones that get in the way. If I'm creating the room I'll set certain normal stages off. Customs or not usually it's a fun battle.I play stock 2 or 3 stocks with 6-8 minutes respectively. I honestly like stock with no items better because it is a game of sklls to me and I want to get better at. Items dont contribute to skill cuz a single bomb can kill at an early percent whereas in a competitive battles the percent can stack to as high as 150%. That is my point of view tho. others may play withe items on for the fun of it. It really is fun but kind of annoying sometimes.
