I haven't really tried SOS yet but I did finish hatching a Shiny riolu for a friend of mine as a christmas present. It took me 446 eggs until I finally got it and that is with my shiny charm that I recently obtained after completing my dex. So how lucky are you guys when it comes to shiny hatching/hunting? (Also I'm aware of the switching method but I perfer not doing that because I really like the surprise that comes along with finding a shiny.)

Got a shiny misdreavus after a chain of about 80 or 90.

I got a shiny pikipek going to Brooket Hill

Shiny mimikyu with a chain of 100 or something like that

I've hatched a few shinies with the Masuda Method on Sun & Moon so far, but I haven't been counting eggs since I wasn't trying for a shiny. I've just been breeding. Still, I've had 3 which seems pretty good so far considering that was the same amount I hatched with the Masuda Method my entire X game. I do need the shiny charm, though!

Yes i can much understand not doing the switch out/ egg switch trick, i like a surprise too so i have nothing against that hehe :p i havent really experiment much with either method but i have found 3 shinies by random chance normal wild pokemon, i wasnt even trying to shiny farm/ chain i just found it by accident so those were fun events for me! :p one was shiny alolan raticate, one gastrodon, an the last one i caught like this is a blue oricorio on poni island which is my favorite encounter so far she was beautiful ^~^ an i dont have shiny charm either yet, but this still happened! :p

My first intentional Masuda'd shiny in Gen 7 was Magikarp which took around 120 eggs and I had the Shiny Charm with that. I also tried MM-ing for Bounsweet and Rockruff only to be left with no luck. I reached around 700 eggs in total for that.

I've given up on that method long ago, but that doesn't mean you should too! I just simply don't have time for it anymore. :) Try using Magikarp for the egg switch trick, I think they hatch the fastest; You might wanna try that when hatching for Dragons, blah.

Well its different for everyone, but for me, it took me ~250 give or take.
I got a shiny ralts

The egg breeding method is the best but some times i hate it because it is very very slow and you need a hatch power to make it faster and a bike too . For me to have just a shiny pokemon starter by this method , it just took at least 23 eggs to get the shiny at the 24th one and that marvelous shiny pokemon was charmander . I took him because his final state is wonderful.
