I'm looking into games to get for my Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is on the list since I've heard so many good things about it. I never got the chance to play the original Xenoblade Chronicles so I'm not sure if jumping into Xenoblade 2 is the recommended thing to do, but if it is, how many hours of gameplay can I get out of the game?

I heard it also got free DLC. Some info about that would be awesome as well ^-^

I think the game great, story is interesting, it has kept me occupied for over 70 hours so far, and I am only on chapter 5 , so nowhere near done.
I have played the other games and as it is a completely different story, you may notice similarities in that the monsters that you fight are the same, the places are similar to the first game, but look better.
I don't think you need to have played the others to fully appreciate it.
I am not sure I fully understand the battle system, but have managed to play quite a way into it regardless.
The free dlc is Japanese voices. Not sure how much is in the paid dlc, £26 seems a bit much , so if I get it I will wait for a while for a sale. Wasn't sure when I first played it, but having gone back to X for a while, I think overall X is the better, more involved game, but I still highly recommend 2.

I absolutely love it. Easily my GotY 2017 and my Favorite game on Switch, even higher for me than Mario Odyssey. I put in 130+ hours, but I did a bunch of sidequests and extra stuff because it was fun. I'd say you could probably finish the story in around 60-ish hours if you didn't do much or any of the extra stuff there is to do.

I love all of the rare blades, so I spent a lot of time trying to farm for them and do their blade specific quests. I also loved the story, but I felt like the ending wasn't that great, but everyone else seemed to love the ending, so you might. The locations were varied and gorgeous, and the only music I've listened to since I bought the game is the soundtrack CD. I love the music more than anything, favorite game soundtrack, I can't stop listening to it.
