Hey guys i came to ask how much you think the amiibo thing for the 3ds will cost? I think it should cost 10-15 dollars since your gonna have to buy the amiibo...Aren't the amiibo like 12 dollars each?

I say $15-10...

Amiibo are only compatible with the Wii U Gamepad and New 3DS. There is no peripheral for the 3ds. Amiibo can only be used with the New 3ds and not the 3ds. Amiibo can be bought for 13 dollars retail, but unofficial resellers sell them for much more than they are worth ($30+) on online sites.

Edit: ask if you would like me to explain more about why the (original) 3ds will not have a peripheral or amiibo support.

@TrueWarriorLink You are wrong. There will be peripheral for regular 3ds owners, so they can use amiibos without having to buy the New 3ds. I think it will cost around 15 $, because it just seems Natural because it should be a little more expensive than amiibo figures.

...Oh. Dang. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. After hearing of this, I decided to look around on the Internet, and found that the peripheral is not going to be released in Japan until this summer. Which means that the North american release is going to take awhile longer (if there is one), unless you import from japan. Now answering the original question, the peripheral may cost around $30 upon its north american release. It will cost more if you want to import it from japan this summer tho.

I think that it may be around 40 to 50 dollars since most Nintendo accessories are around that price. And to get it to work, you need an amiibo that costs about 13 dollars so in total it may be around a 60 dollar price tag.

Okay, I'm sure other people are saying this, so I'm just going to say it here. What if they try to make a cash grab and region lock these, too?
Although I'm no expert on these things, I don't know even if they can do that tbh, though that would really get me mad if possible and it happened.

If you're talking about the peripheral that allows you connect amiibo to the 3DS, it will probably cost around ~$20-$50
I'm not personally into amiibo, but unless they offer any benefits that are large enough in games, I won't be picking any up.
I think it's a good thing that Nintendo has made the decision to implement amiibo for the regular 3DS as well.
