How to apply for Gym

I want to become a Gym Leader and I don't know where to apply. Please tell me why.

To become a Gym Leader, you have to first beat all of the other Gym Leaders then once you get all the badges you can participate in the tournament for championship and if you become champ you can challenge a Gym Leader for a Gym Takeover battle and if you win the Gym is yours.
