Hi there!! Zukrad here!
So, as we all know, in 6th Gen, Perfect IV breeding has become much easier, thanks to the inclusion of the Friend Safari (guaranteed 3IVs) and the new Destiny Knot mechanics.
But, if you are trying to get Legendaries with good IVs, you are going to have a bad time (Megalovania starts playing)
The fact that you can't breed for Legendaries (other than Phione) makes getting Legendaries (either for OU, VGC or Ubers) a lot harder.
Thankfully there is 2 methods to get legendaries with 5IVs a little bit more efficiently:
RNG Abuse & Final Gambit + Speed Checking
1.- RNG Abuse (3, 4 & 5 gen exclusive)
Requirements
- A Nintendo DS, DS Lite, Dsi, 3DS or New 3DS (The former 2 are much easier to do imo)
- A copy of either Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black, White, Black 2 or White 2
- A PC with the program "RNG Reporter"
I won't be too in deep in this method, since there is a lot of guides of how it works and what to do, I found doing it myself a little bit innecessary, and I want to focus on the 6th gen method.
Basically, with RNG Abuse, you predict at what time and day a certain Pokémon with certain IVs spread and nature is going to appear, change your's system day and time to match it and catch it.
RNG Abuse guide for gen 3, 4 & 5
2.- Final Gambit + Speed Checking
Requirements
- A Nintendo 3DS or New 3DS
- A copy of either Pokémon X, Y, OR & AS
- A Pokémon with Final Gambit and a certain amount of HP
- A Pokémon with a non-damaging move and a certain amount of Speed
- Patience (like... a lot)
Something cool added to gen 6 is that all the legendaries have at least 3 IVs (as well as Baby Pokémon and certain special Pokémon, like Cosplay Pikachu).
Normally, to get good IVs in your Pokémon you just SR until you get one you like, if only you could check the IVs before catching the Pokémon... wait, you can!!
To explain myself better, I'm going to use an example:
Right now (actually, in this exact moment, while I'm writing this) I'm trying to get a Latios with good IV's
The first thing I need is the perfect stats for a Timid Latios of the level I'm trying to catch
So the ideal stats I want are:
97/x/62/92/80/88
Before the battle begins, I want a Pokémon with a Timid nature and the ability Synchronize (if fainted, better) and put it as the lead of my party
In this case, I'm using a fainted Timid Ralts
First, I'm using Staravia (Any Pokémon with Final Gambit works) with 96 HP
Why 96 HP? That's because the perfect lv 30 Latios has 97 HP, giving me 2 options
- I use Final Gambit, Latios dies = Latios has 96 HP or lower (I soft reset if this happens)
- I use Final Gambit, Latios survives with 1 HP = Latios has exactly 97 HP (If this happens, I go to next step)
Now that I know that my Latios has perfect HP, let's check that speed
Now, I'm using a Breloom with Spore and exactly 87 Speed
87 speed means that, If Latios attacks before me, has 88 or 87 speed, giving me 2 options
- Latios atacks after me = Latios has 87 or less speed (I soft reset if this happens)
- Latios attacks before me = Latios has 88 speed (what I want) or Latios has 87 speed (and we speed tied)
If the later escenario happens, then I click Spore at about 5 - 7 more, if in any of the turns I get to attack first, that means that Latios has 87 speed, and I soft reset, if not, I start to throw Ultraballs
And that's it!! Now you just check the rest of the stats and see if you got something good!!!
But what are the stats of speed and HP I need for certan legendaries?
Well, I'm making a list here, I haven't finished, but I will finsih it soon
Also, if you click the Pokémon, you will go to a strategy analisis of said Pokémon
Try it out!!!
And that's it!! Hopefully this guide helped you to catch those Legendaries you alaways wanted, and have a nice day Ü !!
