How to get 3 stars?(Mario Kart 7)

So I got all 3 stars in the 50cc and 100cc courses in Mario kart 7 and I don't how to get 3 stars in the 150cc courses,I mean I tried all the courses and came in first place in all 3 races of a single cup but still got only two stars.So can anyone tell me how to get 3 stars in 150cc?

It also has to do with the time, the time it takes to finish a race also affects you're Rank...so maybe you took a little too long in 2-3 of the races, its the only other thing there is.

To add to what @StaticMania was saying, you also need to be in 1st 80% of the time in each race, Never end up with a bullet bill, always tailgate other racers, and fall off a cliff 1 or less times.
