Have you ever regretted wasting all of your hard earned cash and Super Sea Snails on bad rerolls with Spyke? Well, I'll have you know that there is a way to safely get the rolls you want, for as cheap or expensive you want it to be.
This method requires you to manage your Splatoon save file so be careful not to accidentally delete it.
What you need:
The Wii U prioritizes save data in USB devices when it exists both in it and the system's internal memory, saving any changes in the USB device while ignoring the save file in the internal memory. Because of this, you can make a backup of your safe file which will keep all your cash/Super Sea Snails intact (internal memory), and another where you spend them (USB). Every time you copy your save file again from the internal memory to the USB everything is restored to the state before you rerolled your gear, meanig that any rerolls are undone and spent cash/Super Sea Snails is/are regained, essentially working as a "undo button" of sorts.
I suggest doing rerolls in bunches of 3-5, to save time. Resetting every time you do a single reroll would be very time consuming, as well as monotonous and tedious.
Keep in mind that brands play a major role as to which sub abilities you'll get in your gear, each brand favors a sub ability, giving it a 30% chance to be rolled, and hinders another, which has a 3% chance to be rolled. Every other sub ability has 6% chance. For a list of brands simply click here.

- Any kind of USB storage device that you don't mind formatting. It has to have enough space for the save file (around 360 MB) or the entire game if you have a digital copy (almost, if not over, 3 GB)
- Insert your USB device in any of your Wii U's USB ports.
- Turn on your console and head over to System Settings > Data Management > Format USB Storage Device. You'll be asked if you want to format your USB device, accept and wait for it to finish (it takes a couple seconds).
- Go to System Settings > Data Management > Move/Copy/Delete Data. Select your Wii U's internal memory, locate your Splatoon save file (or digital copy of the game) and copy it over to the USB storage device, the process takes a couple seconds. It's much longer for digital copies of the game.
- Once copied leave the System Settigs and boot up you Splatoon game. Head over to Spyke and do as many (or little) rerolls as you want.
- If you get your desired reroll then go to System Settings > Data Management > Move/Copy/Delete Data, select your USB Storage Device and copy your Splatoon save file over to your Wii U's internal memory.
- If you didn't get the desired reroll, simply repeat the process from step #3.
