How to quit from the regular online battle lobby in Splatoon?

Pressing the "Start" button just lets you play the mini-game and I think I tried hitting the "Select" button several times without any effect. We all know the "Home" button doesn't work in online mode too :/

I haven't seen any instructions on the television screen so idk what to do.

Sometimes after a regular online match, I choose to play again and end up stuck in the lobby. My finger presses the button too quickly at the end of a match even when I don't want to continue >.<'

So is there a way to exit an online lobby in Splatoon instead of turning off the console?

There isn't an official way that anyone knows of. You just have to remember to quit when your match is over. I like and dislike the absence of a quit button; it technically 'prevents' players from leaving the lobby before a match starts, but at the same time it's inconvenient.

The best thing to do atm is turn off your wifi in order to quickly disconnect from the lobby without having to turn off the Wii U.
