SSB for Wii U How to turn on/off Voice Chat in Smash Bros. for Wii U

I heard voice chat is possible in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U when you're in a room with friends before starting a match. I've played with two members of this forum so far and I have yet to find this feature.

Where do I find the option to turn on and off voice chat in this game?

I'm not sure if it's possible yet since online play did not launch on the game's release =/

With friends only, you should have this option, however, it only works if both you and your friends have the mic on. To turn the mic on you must press negative while on the character selection screen. Doing so will lower the volume of the music and you should hear some slight static.

so the mic isnt on 24/7?! good news i thought my mic was always on
