Preference man. Both games are amazing, I have no clue what to say, since both games are amazing

There's so many games coming out soon
As for whether to pick SSB Wii U or Splatoon, I think that SSB Wii U would be better >.< Both are really good games though so you should think. I haven't played Splatoon but I heard it was a really good game; and there's a lot of free updates too.

Smash 4 is stunning with new features, flawless graphic, DLC characters, and epic stages. So I recommend this game if you love action and fighting games.
Splattoon on the other hand also has flawless graphics, DLC and epic stages to take over turf it is mostly recommend of a person that absolutely loves first person shooters like perfect dark.
