I was browsing reddit just now and came across a post about an email someone had gotten from MoviePass. This user had cancelled their subscription a bit ago, however this email states that unless they opt-out, their credit card will be charged again for a new subscription automatically.
If anyone here has cancelled a MoviePass subscription before, please check your email you had connected to your account. This is 100% illegal what they are doing, and even more illegal since they've kept payment data for users who have cancelled subscriptions.
This is an actual, serious issue and will most likely end with the companies death. The best thing to do imo is ignore the email, and wait for them to take a payment then request a refund, or request a chargeback if the company denies. As long as you have proof of cancellation and the email in the screenshot above, the bank should be on your side. Ir opt-out of it and hope you don't get charged, but considering all this, I wouldn't be surprised if opting-out does nothing.
EDIT: To clarify, when I say letting them charge you would be best, I don't mean it's to give them money, I mean, if they actually do it that 100% holds up in court if you have the cancellation emails and the email above archived for proof that you didn't request the charges.
Also, chargebacks look INCREDIBLY bad on the company.
