Oh Raph the goldfish, I still miss you!

I will always miss you Silkie...I remember back in fifth grade my teacher Mr. McNeil gave us each eggs that were no bigger than quarters and told us to take care of them. He gave us those red prescription bottles that you get at the pharmacy and filled it with Malt-o-Meal and stuck the egg inside.

Several days later Silkie hatched!

To be honest, he grossed me out at first but seconds of watching him crawl on my hands and on my desk I fell in love with the little bug. I named him after the worm on Teen Titans.

My teacher told us that these worms are going to be our partners, he even referenced Pokémon several times.

Needless to say several jerk kids killed their worms and flunked the major project.

I took home Silkie and feed him more meal, and I would carry him around everywhere I went, eventually he'd lift his head and wiggle when I opened his bottle. My mom wasn't pleased with him because she hated bugs.

Well, Christmas morning I woke to find

In the bottle...I emailed my teacher about him turning into the beetle and he told me to release him. I started to cry and sadly released him...

Knowing the fact he is a bug and doesn't live long at all I became sadder....I miss you Silkie.
