I was just messing around on Super Mario 3D World and managed to pull off an infinite lives trick. Here's what I wound up with.

Here is the max number of lives available in the game, and to achieve it is really simple.
First, go to world 1-2, then pick up a random koopa shell throw it at a wall and repeatedly bounce on top of it. It may take some practice at first, I died a few times trying it but after a while it should work. You should start getting 1UPs like nothing, should look like this:

Also I recommend using Toad since he falls faster so you can be a little closer to the wall and get the lives faster. I'm not sure yet but I think any character can pull this trick off, although I prefer using Toad.
I've heard of other infinite lives tricks as well but this is the one I prefer since it's so simple. Hope this helps!

There is a much easier area in W1-2 to grind 1ups, but I suppose any location works. Gathering a bunch of 1ups is the best way to tackle on those difficult stages in Super Mario 3D World.

I used like 2 or 3 different spots lol. It just happened to work on that spot so I just went with it lol. I know what easier area You're talking about, the little horizontal one past the checkpoint flag right? That's where I got the last 110 lives. And infinite lives are really helpful especially when trying to hunt for green stars and stamps.

Yep, the narrow compact corridor that leads into the area with the rectangular ? Blocks and blue bricks in a shallow ditch is the place I was referring to. There are a good amount of spots to do the infinite lives trick in the game. I find myself needing to restock after many failed attempts on Champion's Road lol.

I never thought of the idea of grinding lives in Mario games. I kinda consider it cheating, :p

Well, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. :sneaky:
I still need to get the last star on the crown level >.<

Well it's not cheating if codes aren't involved :p

I've heard this trick plenty of times before :p It's pretty neat that how you can easily get one-ups without the use of any cheat codes or any such things similar . I think that I've also seen this trick in other Super Mario games as well , such as the old ones , but it's a neat trick :D

There are some spots in that level where you can also get 1 ups. There is a spot where you can throw the shell in between two blocks and a Clear Pipe is also sticking out. I think it is almost at the end of the level. Another spot is close to that picture you took, where you ground pound the block in the ground. There should be an opening where you can toss the shell by facing left or right. Keep in mind that the area is narrow, so you will take damage in this spot.

There are so much places that you can get 1 ups! In world 1-2, there are practically 4 places that you can do the 1 up trick. It is so easy I tell you! There are also plenty of koopas so you can simply jump on them, go to a narrow area, and them jump onto the goomba and rack up 1-ups! Its quite handy!

I love the glitches in these kind of things, I did it once using a youtube tutorial. You can easily get 3 crowns in the game, and the best part is, YOU HAVE A CHANCE AT WINNING CHAMPION ROAD WITH ALL THOSE LIVES! But really, I like when these additions help.

I know no one really plays this game anymore but these can still help. For visuals go to the Nintendo eShop for this information is not mine.
1.Go to level 6-1 then go to the cheep cheeps that are jumping up.(this step is easier in a tanooki suit)then jump on a cheep cheep then fly then when the cheep cheep comes under you, drop. You will have to do this a few times before you get a 1up.
2.Go to 5-1(this also requires a tanooki suit)go to the tanooki thwomp and jump on its tail you are going to to have to fly to get it and just keep jumping(and BTW,you can switch thwomps and still get 1up's).
3.This isn't infinite but close enough.Go to 7-5 then you will see goombas (you will also need a tanooki suit) and jump then keep flying and when you see a goomba ,get it!then just continue until it ends at the checkpoint flag.
4.Go to 1-2 there will be a block and in front of it a koopa. Jump on the block and wait until the koopa comes to you the just walk forward.(this is the only strategy that you can leave your 3ds unattended and the only one without a tanooki suit).

Yeah, I remember many of this tricks that happears on the 3d land. There are also other 1 up spots on other mario games... Did nintendo do this with the purpose of making the life of many players more easily or it was just a coincidence...

I use the world 1-2 trick. It was great. However, it made the game pretty boring. The crowns were pretty, though the big Mario doesn't look all that good without his cap. The small Mario looks pretty nice with the cap though.

I think Nintendo made some by mistake and some on purpose.

How do you get them switched? This happened to me one time but I don't know what I did. Is it by getting the 3 crowns for lives?

It happens when you get all the 3 crowns.
