When thinking of Animal Crossing you think of a fun town full of life. Cute little animal creatures live their day to day lives collecting bugs, fishing, or just trading items for cute little bell currency. Animal Crossing feels like a unique experience that can't be matched by other games. However, we are in a day in age where every game with any form of difficulty has to be classified as being Dark Souls.

The Crash Bandicoot remaster was called a Dark Souls game for its intense difficulty, which most people seem to forget was very present in the original games. So if Crash Bandicoot is Dark Souls, then so can a lot of other games. Banjo Kazooie is Dark Souls, Mario Party 2 is Dark Souls, Pokemon sun is Dark Souls, Super Mario RPG is Dark Souls, and Animal Crossing New Leaf..................Is Dark Souls.

Think about it, you spend all of your time trying to help your town. Falling into fake holes, filling up a museum, dealing with neighbors, and then you end up having to sell all of your possessions just to scrape half of the bells needed to pay Tom Nook for your house. In short, Tom Nook is the ultimate Dark Souls boss!!!

Ok but in all seriousness, games need to stop being compared to Dark Souls when they show any sign of difficulty. Can't a game be unique with a challenging difficulty without needing to be called Dark Souls? 19601412_1611539408880270_5217947017012131895_n.jpg

Dark souls isn't even a terribly hard game at all... Any of the 3.

I've never actually heard of games being "classified" as Dark Souls, and it sounds quite stupid. And Animal Crossing isn't hard at all :rotfl:

Look up some reviews of the Crash Bandicoot remaster. It'll just make you cringe

I completely agree, calling games more difficult than others in their franchise "Dark Souls" is incorrect. Dark Souls is not a synonym for difficulty, and is certainly not the only challenging game franchise, it's just famous for it, and does difficulty in a somewhat different way (learning bosses, enemies, levels, building your character, etc.). You don't see anyone call the easiest titles in a series "Kirby games", for example. Basically, Dark Souls is a dark fantasy RPG franchise famous for its challenging gameplay (and sweet lore), not a difficulty setting or antonym for "casual", which deserves better than being a different name for a difficulty level.

Care to elaborate on that? Quite a few people would disagree with you. :p

I've played through all 3, and if you actually take care of your movements and timing, then it's not a hard game at all really. Take a look at speed runners running through the franchise, it'll show you how much you don't actually need to do, and what to do in the bosses. Sure they've played through the game hundreds, if not thousands of times and got that muscle memory, but anyone can take hints from the runs.

Even without looking at speed runners, just watch the bosses' movements, there's patterns everywhere, even if it looks like there's not. Pick up those patterns and it's a lot easier.

People go into the game with a mindset that it'll be this incredibly hard game, so they treat it like one without realising.

Dark Souls is a game that hard for beginners. No one goes into a Dark Souls game and not die very quickly. Once you get a handle of how the combat works and what weapons/build works for you, it becomes a much easier game where difficult only lies in you just making 1 wrong move. Like moving to the right into an instant death attack instead of to the left to avoid it.

But that's exactly where the difficulty lies, in learning the attack patterns of enemies and how to handle them. If you know them, it's not that difficult - but if you play the game blind with no previous knowledge or experience, which a lot of players do, it will be challenging. The games put heavy emphasis on observing, experimenting and adapting to new situations, unlike many other games where your strategies are all but spelled out, or there is only one way to defeat a certain enemy. Dark Souls doesn't hold your hand, but makes you solve your problems yourself - figure out how to handle the levels through trial and error. You have to learn, adapt, stay on your toes at all times and never underestimate even the weakest of foes - that is why many players find them difficult and callenging, usually in a fair way. The games test you, and the high difficulty makes the challenges more satisfying to overcome.

They're not that hard if you know them by heart, but most players don't.

Wait, Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is only rated E for Everyone?

Why are people so infatuated with this? Probably not anymore, because this was posted more then a year ago, but that’s just too weird, lol
