While smashing online i have noticed something very strange!
Im playing perfectly with no lag online my opponent is super good when all of a sudden theres a 30 second lagging period. After that its like my opponent isnt even trying.
It has happened so many times! I thought it was mabey my opponent just playing around but im not sure? What do u think?

There is one general consensus.
  • Before the lag, you were playing with an actual human player
  • The time that it lagged randomly for so long leads to one indication - the opponent disconnected
  • Afterwards when it seems as if the opponent stopped trying, it's because they got replaced by a Lvl 1 CPU since they disconnected from the match
Long story short, human played, disconnected, and got replaced by a lvl 1 cpu

Is that even possible

It is.
I've had it happen to me once. I fought this cloud player online and he tried to spike me but I ended up spiking him with Kirby dair + footstool to end his stock, then the screen just lagged completely for a few seconds and we both just kinda stood there for a while. I slowly approached him and he wouldn't do anything and when I started charging my hammer he would just jump around instead of attcking me. And in the end I hammered away the Cloud, and going back to the lobby I saw he was gone.

Apparently I didn't know that, I thought that when somebody disconnected it would've resulted in a communication error
I'm not sure if it ever happened to before since the only time I recall a large amount of lag was a match that lagged till the end .-.
Does this happen to both 3DS and Wii U? Might there be any differences in the situation for the two versions?

Happens to me all the time. It's more common than you actually think :p
